Description
Underworld Enemy #4: Goriya"A little devil that lives underground. He uses boomerangs. There are two of his type, blue ones and red ones. Watch out for the blue ones! They are strong."
- The Legend of Zelda Manual
Capitalizing on Hyrule's demise and vulnerability, bandits and pillagers have been preying on the weakened populace, taking with them everything they can get their hands on. One such group of Bandits are the Goriya, a race of bipedal rodent-like men that hail from the Overworld's ancient and maze-like Lost Woods. The Goriya are experts on navigation and used the Lost Woods as a way to smuggle goods without being found. However, now that the Overworld has become rampant with beasts and mercenaries, the Goriya have had to change plans, instead attempting to ambush would-be heroes in the Underworld for their treasures and weapons. Unlike most of the evil forces at work in Hyrule, the Goriya are not under Ganon, who is unaware of their presence in the Underworld. The Goriya primarily use hand-crafted boomerangs as their weapons and are often seen wearing very richly adorned clothing and armor, presumably stolen from individuals of considerable wealth. These Bandits are also of short-stature and are very stealthy in their approach, but are quite strong due to their disproportionately long arms, able to manipulate their weapons' tricky trajectory in any environment.

My favorite forgotten Zelda creature. You upped the quality so high they look like something from the Monster Manual.

The inner musculature of the jaw being visible is a nice touch.

I always wondered why his sprite has a mustache and in the manual is a wolf...

Ha, same here. He looked more like a badger in the manual to me at least, but in the game it looks more like some kind of mustached rat/dog hybrid. Looked at Tasmanian Devils to find a good balance!
