Description I have seen it multiple times in my time in secondary school that people can be ignored. I never was as I never allowed myself to be but I know people who were and are still 'awkward'.

So I make my mission that whenever I stride into class, to sit with anyone who is by themselves! (I know who prefers to sit by themselves and who doesn't choose to).

Just take one class, you don't always have to sit with your friends, and you can explain to them if they get upset, but it can make a big difference to someone who feels excluded for someone like ya to appear and take an interest in them!

So yea, you could make a HUGE impact on someone just by simply choosing to sit with them and saying hello! It might not seem like much to you, but it could really mean the world to them.

And the title choice cuz I felt it truly fit

I did this once with a girl who was just new, as were we all at the time, (We had just started secondary) but she had moved nearby, so me and my friend decided to talk to her. (It didn't hurt that she was reading a Shugo Chara manga!) And she seemed okay at the time, but when we got to know her she was.. er.. a little weird. She got more friends that probably like her more than I do now, but I still talk to her. I hate how people can criticise when they have never even truly met the person inside. I've also made it one of my goals to talk to the boy in my English class that never talks to anyone >:3 But some stupid boys I know keep annoying him and a few days ago he snapped I guess and threw bricks at them. One of them hit one of the boys in the head and he had to go to hospital. He may kinda deserved it, but it shouldn't have happened. It's made me a little weary of talking to the other boy though. I used to be one of those loners who everyone.. strongly disliked.. but now I have friends. Nobody should have to deal with anything alone. (Sorry about the long comment!)

Uh thats so wonderful. I'm the sort of person who sit alone and wish that someone will come and talk to me. I am really happy when someone just smiles at me. And this didn't change yet. Even if I finished school...
You are so right!

Awww. This actually happened to me in middle school. I had no one and then my now best friend EVER sat next to me and tried to talk to me. I was really socially awkward but she saved me Even now I find random people trying to talk to me and make me feel better

Years ago, I was that awkward girl, pushed away by bullying, I never talked to anyone. One day someone came up to me who wasn't put off by my extreme shyness. That was nearly 5 and a half years ago and he is now my best friend and soon to be husband. He brought me out of life crippling depression and has truly saved my life

Oh yes, it does mean the world to some people <3
Being that socially awkward, quiet type that I am often makes me feel excluded.
If someone would come up to me and say hello and try to be friends, it really would mean a lot to me.
Sadly though, most people have their own little clique and usually stay with them and if they have a clique it makes me feel intimidated and more shy.
-sigh- I wish everyone was more like you ;u;

Why didn't you sit next to me??? I was an awkward kid before I found friends, and I only found friends 'cause the teacher made a seating plan and I was placed next to another awkward kid. But I would've loved it if someone chose to sit by me. Great poem.

A beautiful poem. Usually I don't start crying when I read a poem, but this made me cry. I've been that awkward kid for a very long time. When I was younger I was outgoing, had many friends and was just happy. I then got bullied, started at a new school, got bullied there and visited many schools. Some months ago I started at my currently school. It's much better than my last ones, but I'm still that awkward kid. At least now somebody says "hello" to me. If I haven't found that school, I would have committed suicide. I still think about it, because I don't really have any friends and haven't in long time. But i still have a little hope, just because of "hello".

I really hope your poem will inspire a lot of people to do like you. You're a wonderful person.

I admire the message, though the title is misguided. The kid Pearl Jam's song "Jeremy" is based on had been passing notes with a girl in class, and the girl had started it. Somebody liked him, and he knew it. He'd killed himself for the same reason other suicidal kids do: issues at home.

I'd consider changing the title if nothing else.

Interesting work and a nice message. it reminds me of a one of my characters who I made as a friendly type that likes to "table hop" at lunch and sit with other people/groups/cliques so she can make them all feel special. I was worried I was making her into a "Mary Sue" that way, but its nice to know that there are real people willing to do those things or similar to it that give realism to my ideas.
