I remembered a time where Square Enix told us "don´t forget her" and an image of Lightning. It was cristal clear. She was coming back...But now I see with sadness that Square Enix is back to their lolita complex... I´m sure so many of you are excited to see this new adventure, I was too, but I was sooo thrilled to finally find a strong leading woman in the Final Fantasy ranks...!!! So you can imagine my disappointment on finding ANOTHER damsel in distress as a main character...
So this is my protest.
Hope you guys don´t take it personally.

Recuerdo alguna vez que Square Enix nos dijo "No la olviden" con una imagen de Lightning. Más claro ni el agua. Ella regresaba...
Pero ahora veo con tristeza que Square Enix ha regresado a su complejo de lolita... Estoy segura que muchos de ustedes esperan con ansia el nuevo juego, y yo también lo estaba, pero estaba también muy emocionada al ver, al fin, a mujeres fuertes como personajes principales de un juego de Fanal Fantasy...!! Asi que pueden imaginarse mi decepcion al ver a OTRA damisela en desgracia como personaje principal...
Asi que esta es mi protesta.
Espero que no la tomen personal.

We hope that, at least, XIII-2 gets to be a good game, in spite of everything they´re doing to Lightning. And yeah!! loved to see the two Farrons together in a whole game!!

Naw, she's not a damsel in distress lead character like Terra. She's just alot more refined and quite than most of the female characters.
Before I get sidetracked, good job on this. Although it would interesting if you can draw her n more feminine clothing with her weapon, just a thought.

From what I've heard, MOST of the game is to be centered around Noel and Serah, with the OHTER main characters from the first game only making cameo appearances...
This worries me greatly.....

Don't they think it'll affect their sales if they make Lightning non-playable? It's a mutual thing... they make Light at least 50% playable, they get loads of buyers. -_- sigh...

Although I don´t really think she´ll get to be the damssel in distress: she´ll be fighting her own battles, as fit to her. BUT. The fact that we won´t play with her for most of the game PLUS playing with her whimpering sister instead... THAT is disappointing!!

I'm with you. I'm hoping that Serah will prove to be a strong female lead in this game. I'm afraid that they may have jumped the shark with this story though because I've heard theories (they are only theories at this point, but they are upsetting) about Time Travel and possible aliens (?). Add to that the fact that they've got TWO worlds (the real and the invisible) and now they've added MOOGLES to the mix, and I have to wonder how strong the story can be. I've always found that there is an inverse ratio regarding the number of gimmicks and the quality of a plot.
I'm probably waiting until this game drops in price to buy it. $65 is an awful lot of money to spend for what looks to be a mediocre sequel.

Well, what I´ve seen so far on the trailers, Serah´s being PROTECTED by Noel, which means she won´t be as strong as we would like her to be and far, FAR weaker than her older sister (and sooo many people have asked "where´s Snow!" Toriyama said that he´s just not the jealous type... not jealous my &%$%&(##!!! Snow might love her so much that he would allow her freedom, but NOT jealous??? he´s too pasionate not to feel SOMETHING when his adored fiancee is in a travel, alone with another guy!! plus, he being the buggy hero he is, how in the world would he ever let her go in a dangerous journey???)
ehem!! *exhales deeply* anayways, thanks for letting me vent.
I do want to buy the game, not a single game of the Final Fantasy series has ever let me down, I actually enjoyed a lot playing FFX-2, I even played it twice!! and not more times only because there was FFXII to play. But the FFXIII was DEFINITELY the first FF game I fell in love with, and it looks as if it´s going to be just ANOTHER FF. For the things you´ve said and tons more.
But let´s wait, and hope it gets better.

I think they plan to try and make Serah a little tougher. I hope. I'm with you in that Serah is NOT my favorite character. At all. (In fact, I really don't like her.) It's a little disappointing thinking that they're reverting to type with this game - meaning a male 'lead' character and a female foil. FFXIII gave us three strong female characters. I would have liked for them to continue that trend. I'm afraid your interpretation of the leading lady (Serah) being a damsel in distress is probably more likely.
As for Snow being jealous - I can agree that he's probably NOT the jealous type. There is a difference, however, between not being jealous, and being perfectly fine with your fiance (WIFE? - It is years in the future) running around the world with another man. I'm sure he trusts her. If she were with a mutual friend, I doubt he'd kick up a fuss. Some strange guy, though? I don't know... It seems a bit much.
I guess we'll see how the plot plays out. I'd like to know where the hero is, actually. I mean, why wouldn't HE be with Serah on her journey? What would be more important to him?
We'll cross our fingers...

The trailers show that NORA bartender (I keep forgetting her name!!... Ah!! Lebreau!!) losing her temper over whimpering Serah, and the gameplay interviews have revealed that Noel will be the leader, while Serah will ALWAYS stay behind him... so... that crushed any expectations of a tougher young Farron... but who knows? as you say, we´ll have to wait for the game.
I still think Snow wouldn´t let her go by her own, when he swore to protect her, and ESPECIALLY now that Lightning isn´t there either. Plus, if Serah is on a dangerous journey to find her sister, wouldn´t Snow be the first one to jump and help? they both bonded after all! Snow felt Lightning as his responsability too!! But well... let´s just see how it turns out.
Bad thing is that I´m not that willing to play it anymore. As you said, most probably I´ll wait for the price to go down for a bit.

2. totally agree! I was glad to hear I can play as Serah, i like the character but to know that i'll be playing as her and Noel for what could be the majority of game play leaves me feeling a little torn...especially since from the interviews I got the impression we'll see the others as well...I'm trying to stay positive but if any new major news on the game's story doesn't involve more Light, and the gang nor new interesting characters other than Noel that'll grab my attention...I'll be starting to look forward to just waiting for Versus13 and Type-0 D>

I´m convinced I will play FFXIII-2, because not a single FF game has ever let me down. They´ve all been amazing. But it seems to me that this new game will be just ANOTHER FF game. I mean, the exact same formula, just with some fancy tricks to use. Which is disappointing.
Let´s hope that´s not going to happen, but who knows?

Let's just hope within these next few months before the game's official release (because as quick as they say its coming out it can all change this is Squeenix after all) that it'll be just as interesting maybe better than it's predecessor...or am I just trying to be optimistic, at least until new info comes out? *worried*

I too felt utterly disappointed that she wasn´t going to be the leading character, but it was understandable. What truly bothers me is that they´ve come back to their lolita complex, THAT I can´t stand!!
