New alien creature yay! A slightly better ref. Gotta design her wings next. XD wish me luck lol. Females lay one egg at a time and both sexes look after their young. For the first few months they are referred to as larvae and they become pupa once their antennae develop. They metamorphose at around 14-15 years old and my pupa bean is just about there. They develope 2 sets of wings, another set of antennae and silk during this time. They completely cocoon themselves in the sticky silk for a few weeks to a month before emerging. Orids name themselves after gemstones, rocks, minerals and metals and usually they are named after aspects of their appearance. Crystal was named because her coloration makes it look like shes composed of a bunch crystals. XD they come from a small world with weaker gravity orbiting a K type star. Their fins on the side of their head are used for expressions. Their antennae feel for vibrations in the air and expressing themselves, their adult antennae are used for sensing pheromones and finding mates. They are a bit closed off from the rest of the galaxy but are slowly emerging from their homeworld to explore. Crystal hope's to be a part of that one day. Crystals coloration is very rare, all three traits (melaninism, multiple colors, iridescence) are rare and recessive traits. Its very rare to get all three.
Once I figure out their design I might make them an open species. They come in all colors and I think you guys might find them fun to play with! well, I hope I so anyway. Plus, I get to show off my mineralology knowledge with their names. ^-^ one good thing I got out of that class. I've always wanted a rainbow creature lol. So sorry about the awful anatomy lol.
