Nina's boss somehow overheard that she had been discharged from the hospital, but apparently didn’t get the full memo about the condition she was in. With the lack of reliable staff these days, her boss promptly called, assigning Nina to the next shift. The busy person the manager was, she took Nina's muffled grunts as approval, even though she didn't actually understand much (not that there was much to be understood).
Nina now frantically tries to make it clear that she has trouble talking and is in no condition to work as she can’t even hold a service tray. Or walk, for that matter.
