Description I have a knack for drawing meaningless portraits with intense colors. Then again, a lt of artists get away with exactly this type of content, so I will enjoy myself for a while.

You say a meaningless portrait, but define meaningless. I like portraits where there is emotion, where you can sense there is a hidden story and where you can make up what that story could be--such portraits inspire. So, not meaningless, at least by my definition e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="392" title=" (Smile)"/>. There is a bit of melancholy, a sense that she is looking through you, at something else, a memory, a thought, a feeling, a tiredness in the soul. I even get a bit of resignation, but it could be a resignation that comes from surrendering to a decision--a sad decision, but one that needs to be done. I could spin so many stories just from this portrait. I focused on the face as that is where the painting draws your focus inexorably to. I must agree with BrunaTivo's observation that the neck and collar bone seem a bit off though maybe if we saw her arm positions the collar bone positions would make more sense (the shoulder on her right is higher than on the left, so fits). A bit of a long neck as well, but I've known people with long necks. But those are trivial as I am inexorably drawn to the face and that face is so brilliantly done.

I struggle with drawing some body parts (like fingers, really don't know why I can't do fingers well. Rather frustrating!). I am hoping the art classes I will start taking this year will help. No one is born knowing how to draw perfectly--it's a learning, growing process. So keep at it!

But, again, the face is brilliantly done--draws me in. Also, I can really see this as a video game character portrait. Some games let you upload a portrait for your character or let you create characters to upload that others can then use and this just fits so well for that. Anyway, keep learning! You are skilled and talented and I know you will get even better.Β

Wow, thank you so very much for the appreciative words and for taking the time to post a critique. As mentioned before, I am trying to improve n my anatomy skills.

First of all I love what you did with this piece. The colors look beautifully put together, I really like the subtle shades of orange over her hair and face, it adds a lot contrast-wise with the greens in the background, also like the way you kept her in focus, whilst the surroundings blurred.

The downside would be the anatomy of the neck, it's a little over done and the collar bone seems misplaced since the left bone is way up, with that said, the inner joint of collar bone keeps aligned when you move your arm up, so it couldn't work the way it was rendered in the painting

Aside from that, everything looks impeccable, amazing color choices and great details! Congrats!!!

Thanks for taking the time to critique! I think your observations are really fair. Collar bones always are a weak point for my drawings.

You're welcome! I'm glad you think so, I'm sure this weak point of yours is gonna be overcome easily with your skill level Β

She has a very intense expression. She seems contemplative/wondering or sad. I don't think you've done aΒ  "meaningless" piece here.

Nice job

Thank you! I meant that there is no symbolism or deeper meaning to it... It was really good practice, though.

Thank you! The thing with the shine is a bit exaggerated but I like the way it turned out too. I think I will use this style in future drawings too.
