Do NOT repost, either on tumblr or anywhere else unless you've specifically asked beforehand - bafflingly this still seems like a monumental task for some people. It's here on tumblr, so you can reblog it from there.Title 'borrowed' from Death Cab for Cutie. But yeah, what else can I say? I haven't spend so much time on one drawing since...I don't even know, I even paid attention to some ridiculously tiny details (which you should be able to see if you download it) on the dogtags and John's tattoo. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY, I DON'T NEED A REASON OKAY.

This is brilliant. The little details (the tattoo, the scar, and the dogtags) are what really make it pop in my opinion.
I especially love the fact that the dogtags are round.

The thing is, at first I did actually draw rectangular dogtags, but after a bit of research into what information British Army dogtags have printed on them it occurred to me that the shape was completely wrong! Well, I learnt from my mistakes, and then probably went a little overboard in detail

I love this. The poses are great. It really shows how comfortable they are with each other. It's casual but intimate. And there are lots of lovely additions to this that I like- the tattoo, the scar, the dog tags and Sherlock with his cigarette ^^ The detail in this is incredible. A fabulous piece of art

As I keep looking (and looking at the larger size!), I like it better and better. I really like that they look like normal, everyday dudes. Of course they're a bit fit, but they have scraggly bits and hairs.
I definitely appreciate that they look the correct ages. Often people draw these guys much too young (18-20) and for a post-coital moment like this, I feel like a perv if they look overly young.

This is so beautiful. Kudos for the Death Cab title! But honestly, lovely. The shadowing is beautiful and the whole piece just feels...relaxed. Can almost smell the ciggy smoke

This just.. I don't know if it makes any sense, but it feels so canon somehow. John looks badass and like a content kitten at the same time AND OH GOSH THAT TATTOO 
Sherlock, smoking. I love Sherlock smoking. That also feels very canon, like things have been especially stressful lately and Sherlock picked smoking up again and then John decided to up and shag him to help relieve some of that stress and just. Oh.

I do seem to have unwittingly combined all those things, which I didn't actually plan at all in the beginning! I was just thinking about a fic I'd read, that had mentioned John having the RAMC insignia as a tattoo, and then it kind of just evolved from there.

I feel weird complementing someone on drawing body hair, but damn! Your attention to detail is impressive! As well as on that intricate tattoo and dog tags.
Besides the detail work, may I say that the piece as a whole is smoking hot as well. (Pun really not intended, yet apropos. ^^) Just such a gorgeous, intimate moment you captured, well done!
