Description The Alexander's and Darius' favorite Bagoas as the Persian-scythian warrior-shaman.

According to Palaephatus (IV-III century B.C.)
"This is my view of the Amazons, that they were not women who waged war, but barbarian men, and that they wore clothing which extended over their feet, like that of the Thrakian women, and that they bound their hair in hair-bands and shaved of their beards like ..." And that is why they were called women by their opponents. The Amazons were a people that excelled in fighting. But fighting was never for women; nor is it so anywhere today."

I suppose that Amazons are the Scythians (Iranians), the tribe in northern lands of ancient Persian empire.

"An Enaree or Enarei was a Scythian shamans; described as effeminate or androgynous. Scythian shamanism involved religious ecstasy through the use of entheogens; they had no temples and worshipped the forces of nature."

"The Scythians had no temples, or altars or religious images, and evidently no priests. It is known that the northern nomads including the Scythians practiced Shamanism in their religion: they used shamans to deal with the world of spirits and gave advice to the kings and chiefs. Being superstitious people, they believed in witchcraft, magic and the power of amulets. The most highly honoured of the Scythian shamans came from certain specific families. They are effeminate males called 'enarees' - meant 'men-women' or 'halfmen'. They spoke with high-pitched voices and wore women's clothes."
Also, enaree or enaria mean 'unmanly'.

Though I strongly pefer the idea of powerful warrior women( which has been confirmed and the Amazons were in fact women, though not the battle armour clad incredibly tall idea that became popular, still do great warriors) the idea of a group of softer feminine male shamans and other magic users is an amazing idea for many stories and poems!

Amazons were egalitarian barbarians at most, mostly equal with their men. The only absolutely proven top down total matriarchy with only women running everything was ancient Crete before the Great Tsunami and subtracting the usurpation reign of King Minos, who ruled opportunistically as Regent when his wife went insane and her counsel was weak to stop him, for whatever reason.

Well I strongly don't believe in a separate powerful women tribe - it's a fable. Amazons were nothing but women from Scythian and according to Turkic customs women could wear weapons and ride to protect the camp with women and children. Although, they had no right to fight along with men.
Do you know that even the famous Sarmatian Amazon from Ural (Orenburzhye, Russia) came out to be a MAN after the genetic DNA results. Yes it was a man who was buried with feminine attributes. All Russian newsfeed talked about this. It has shocked many people because the the myth has started to be debunked by scientists. It's sad when everyone knew that the amazon is a feminine man - everyone's interest in the "sexy and mighty amazon woman" just fell down. Now nobody wants even to talk about this. Some even said "Ew, this amazon is a faggot". Do you think it's fair?

But I said nothing like that? All I ment was that it is confirmed there were woman warriors, and even then not exclusive only there. There are many examples of female warriors in their own right around the world (however they have different names than "Amazon warrior") however many men do not like the idea of ancient women fights similar to how they don't like the idea of elegant beautiful men!

Also the overly sexualized Amazon fetish people once had is dying down and people are now caring about historically accurate Amazons, not the boring chainmail bikini type anymore

Well I am from Turkic family and we do have the idea of woman warrior, but we women are not excluded from the society. Actually Turkic people really respect women and even daughters are more required than sons, and at the same time nobody sexualizes female gender and chastity still matters in both women and men. But I don't understand why there is a need to deny the feminine men and eunuchs in these rights. I wish there was equality for all.

woaaaah... astoundishing point of view. Amazons as feminized men... I never conceived that possibility. They are like the "ergi" of Viking people... somewhat. I love Loki and Baldr ergi appearance and delicate air, specially in your art.

First of all the ideal of thin waist and wide hips is in vedas is the description of demigods. This is just a simple aesthetic understanding.

And yeah, I'm also interested in the depiction of angels as well as in any beautiful looking being :3

According to bible Adam was the MOST beautiful of all creatures. But when he fell, half of his beauty went to Joseph - who is the most beautiful of mortals on Earth. I imagine how they looked like. God must be even better looking.
The first who sinned is Satan, and he was also beautiful though... the top model among angels lol. Then the fallen angel mwahah

Surely yes. Most of these are actually feminine men, not really masculine women. Many articles fminize the gender for the policy or out of own conceptions. You know most of oriental poetry (persian, turkish and arabic) where the beloved was a boy, by 19 c. European translators the gender was changed to female.

Sure. Show me whatever you find it match my interests :3
I think you know about hijras? Some of them are very hard to guess a male. Most of them are dancers and look truly graceful.

We ALL Might have, but eventually people are different and respect them for who they are. Like I'm from Russia butΒ  Iwill be offended if someone will call me 'russian' because I have NONE russian blood. I'm proud to be turkic.
While every Iranian is PROUD to be Iranian (yes I have Iranian friends), and if someone messes them up with arabs they will be pretty much insulted, as well as arabs are proud to be arabs and they will be insulted to be mistaken for persians. Every folk has a distinct culture and unique-ness - we shouldn't blur their self-identification by mixing them all together.
This is NOT about racism, this is about respecting every nation's culture and language difference for what it is. And just simply about being more educated.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

TrueSeb In reply to Develv [2019-08-07 10:00:38 +0000 UTC]

And persians insist very strongly in their difference with arab people.

I'm totally agree with you, people are not the same, a french is not an italian or a romanian. But, at the same time, between two frenchies you should have great differences, each of them will have their own history. More basically, all of us are human beings.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Develv In reply to TrueSeb [2019-08-08 07:29:36 +0000 UTC]

Yes because Persians are indo-european, while arabs are semitic.
And the fact that europeans are different also matters, germans, celts, romans are different nationalities, each unique. But yeah when people ask me, first of all I say that we are living beings, a part of amazing nature which created us.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TrueSeb In reply to Develv [2019-08-10 18:29:35 +0000 UTC]

I don't think it's truly a problem of nationality because before nations are not so important, romans, greeks, assyrians, babylonians, celts, etc... have no nations like ours but cities. Cities with different cultures, different traditions, different cults and religious beliefs. So for me, when we look at humanity, it's more important to look upon the people than the nation, isn't it?

Sorry, i'm not very keen on english so if i am not clear enough, say it to me. Please.
