Its quite interesting how you drew Loki being a female human instead of a mare, which was how he gave birth to Sleipnir. Over all, its an amazing drawing, and making Loki a female human is one way of looking at it!

I got quite an Indian vibe from this, the pose and the style in which you've drawn Loki. Were traditional paintings an inspiration by any chance?

I can't believe how amazing this atmosphere forest looks like, I can't even imagine how did u managed to create such a magical place, it's BREATHTAKING, I'm speechless, there are so much nature details that I could die, the flowers are so perfect, the roses are so beautiful! The lake is so magical, all the little flowers and butterflies, gosh, that's really a sublime work, flawless, Sleipnir looks sooo cute right here, right besides his mother Loki. And Loki by himself is enchanting, doesn't really seems the god of lies with such a peacefull and beautiful expression, but still, such a beauty, I love how delicate he looks like, I love delicate men, I cannot get my eyes off his hair, MY GOD, whatta HAIR, gold like the sun, and all this little mushroons and grass, little violet flowers, little details, ivys and roots makes me so damn jealous of u and ur talent, I'm sorry, but I am very envious of all of this, veeery very envious, anyway, I have to give u my congratulations for such a great job, congrats and congrats, u are amazing. ^^

Nooo, you are amazing!! Seriously, this comment I did doesn't make me more than a good admirer, and just that, but I am sure u have received better ones since this is such a stunning piece of art! I did notice though that you have a sister and u work together, I am sorry, I didn't know that yet when I did my comment, I may correct myself and state here that you two are incredible artists and that I'm gonna follow your work from now on and that I haven't see such beautiful and sweet, magical atmosphere in a creation before, it's really enchanting, it's not only a drawing, it has magic <3 That's such a great talent to have, congratulations! And keep up with the male beauties cuz androgynous men are heaven!!! =***

I feel like I'm being...constantly drawn to this image! And to be fair, I know a bit about males who look feminine as well, judging by the fact that I know quite a number from my school, especially. I've been an actor (or actress in this case) myself and I must tell you that we're famous for producing beautiful girls onstage.Β

I don't think it's trans. Loki's straight-up male. They've said themselves that they don't draw women.

Really? It's surprising. It's a pity that many people imagine Loki as ugly small dwarf. But it's wrong. In Edda poem it's described that Loki was so beautiful everyone was jealous of him.

Thats what I had heard too.Β I think of him as a genderqueer/fluid person who's extremely gorgeous. So yeah your depiction of him is wonderful.

Another - just fantastic - piece of ART right here!! This is the first time I've seen Loki illustrated like this by modern artists, and I adore it, really gives the picture a sense of serenity and warmth, instead of the usual doom and gloom associated with him. Sleipnir looks awesome too, and the surrounding elements - wow! Your sister rocks! I wish there was even a higher res version of this.

Fort of all thank you for your admiration!
Actually my sister wants to revive the initial image and figure of Loki who was the most importand of three gods: Lodur-Hoenir-Odin. I think you might like to read about this develv.deviantart.com/journal/β¦
Loki image was distorted and spolied by Christians as well as they did with other Norse and Slavic pantheon and religion and lately by modern artist who continue to believe in and lie associate him with devil.

EmTheRaven In reply to Develv [2013-08-22 14:26:01 +0000 UTC]
That's sad, but it doesn't really surprise me. With the power the church possessed up through the ages it's unfortunately no wonder that other pantheons diminished in strength and their initial meaning and function were lost or twisted. Thank you for the information on Loki, despite being a Norwegian much of it was new to me.

Develv In reply to EmTheRaven [2013-08-23 10:20:33 +0000 UTC]
So you're Norwegian. Great^__^
For example many russians have no idea about slavic pantheon and mythology because it was lost and destroyed by ages in orthodox church and then 70 years of communism : (

Your sister knows she is great.
This is very interesting, why you always shows Sleipnir with wings? That's because he could fly? (I always imagined Sleipnir as the essence of living fire. Floats like a fire. But your vision is "bizarre" and puts my world upside down, I love it!)
The first thing it reminded me Sushee.Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoFFQ9β¦ Β Thirs track title are "Pegazus" and the text mean:
"He was here
Great water
wellspring
As if the divine
The clatter of hooves
quiver
Divine steed, Divine sailor was here Divine Pegasus!
He has the power
From under the hooves
wellspring
we thank
for lake,
Oceans
Divine steed, Divine sailor was here Divine Pegasus!
Good lord,
Holy creatures
inconceivable,
As if the divine
we ask
You tell us
Where this water come from, Where Β this water come from? There was here Divine Pegasus!
Over the sky
winged horse
inconceivable,
As if the divine.
gallops
hooves
Touches the ground, the wellspring. There was here Divine Pegasus!
He was here ...
Great water
wellspring
The clatter of hooves
There was here Divine Pegasus!"

WesleyBlakeReese In reply to Jyuliey [2013-08-15 19:37:45 +0000 UTC]
It's... Er... not a lady. Well, he CAN be female.... if he wants to be.
'He' is Loki, Norse god of trickery and deceit. He's a shapeshifter, and can also switch genders. He has several children [Hel, Sleipnir, Jormungandr, Fenrir.] Hel is the only one that appears human. Sleipnir is the one in this image, the eight-legged horse. Jormungandr is a giant serpent, and Fenrir is a very, very large wolf.Β
[That probably isn't entirely accurate, it's been scraped up from movies and the internet. Just google 'Loki' or any of the other names.]
