Description Was looking at my adoption papers and discovered the ethnicity up to my grandparents. May not be 100% accurate but these ethnicities certainty represent the majority of my genetic makeup:

Key (Clockwise):
37.5% Irish (Mother & Father's side)
25% French (Mother's Side)
12.5% English (Fathers Side)
12.5% German (Fathers Side)
12.5% Dutch (Fathers Side)

I'm sorry guys, I'm not 100% Bavarian Phenotype

ThatΒ΄s a lovely overview with the country shapes!

Sadly if I made it it would be rather boring XD You can even do a genetical test at igenea.com if you wanna know
which haplogroups you have.

I might try that out, thanks

I only know my ethnicity because it's what my biological parents and grandparents designated themselves as. How reliable is the Hapolgroup model? Can it determine who your great, great grandfather is, or just your ethnicity?

Well it is much more detailled, you can find out if you are celtic, germanic, slavic etc.
Because French is no classical ethnicity, you can be more romanic mediterranean
or nordic or celtic if you are from there.

I did the test and it tells you the basic ethnicities of your fathers line and your mothers line
and where your ancestors lived 2000 years ago. But it costs 200 €^^ So only do it if you
are really curious.

I was reading my adoption papers and it says my maternal grandfather was an "honored war veteran." I don't know my biological family's surname so I can't trace him, but I'm trying to find out.

My maternal grandfather's DOB was 1929, so I assume he has passed on by now. My best guess is that he served in the Korean War, because he would have been 21 yrs old when the war started. He would have been 35 when Vietnam started and he already had two children at that point so I doubt the army would have drafted him.

He could of been a medic also. My foster Uncle served in Vietnam as a medic.

I'm mostly Irish/English/German, myself.

IIRC, I've also got some Scot, Native American Cherokee.... And some traces of French and Swiss, which surprised me when I first heard it.
