That strange innocent tragic creature. Based on one of the cutest lizards ever, the Galapagos Iguana , just to put more salt on the wound.You know, for a movie made by people who hate Godzilla, this one is actually the closest in essence to Gojira 1954. And it is the right kind of cheesy fun ! I mean it has Léon the professional, Eddie Brock's voice and Ferris Bueller running around after a tuna-eating mutated Iguana and its voracious kids ! What's not to like ?
Also, the spin-off kicked ass !

I love this movie, I've never hated it. But when I first saw it I was confused because I watched the old movies. It wasn't the way he looked, it was the he acted. Godzilla doesn't run away from anything, not monsters and not the military. That's what made him a hero in my book. When big-G died at the end I cried, so I was ecstatic when I saw the last egg hatch and heard about the tv show.

I know, the makers wanted a fast moving predator that didn't resemble a man suit. Kinda hypocritical sense they did use a suit in a few shots.

So glad I’m not the only one who, along with loving this rendition of Godzilla, also can see that it actually runs off the same original premise as the original ‘54 film - The consequences of biological weaponry and it coming back to bite us, and hard.
And yes, the spin-off cartoon kicks major ass!

* ONE Antagonistic monster, caused by nuclear strikes, strolls in a city , represents a danger to humans, has to be eliminated by the end. In fact, if you just see Gojira 54 and ONLY that, it is not too far from a remake.

One of my favorite kaiju movies, great action with great music, themes and great cast not to mention the awesome monster design surrounded by a sea of salt and misinformation.
