Description
Giddyup! It's page 10. And a perfect excuse to draw horses. This is really just a vehicle to draw Watson, Lestrade, horses and cemeteries (<- coming up). My fav four things.Next page: [link]

Right, I've got three words for you: BAA! BAA! BAA!
That made me giggle for Thor knows how long, so funny!

Me too! I love sheep that just stand around and bleat!

I can see you like to draw horses, they are very well made. Especially Watson's horse in the third panel! The sheep, on the other hand, you find less interesting, I deduce? I tried to draw sheep, because they are often on the meadow next to my parent's house, but they are incredibly boring... the only recognizable feature except the fluffy fur being their heads, which they keep hidden in the grass most of the time.
The poppies, birds and mouse are very beautiful, too!

Wow, this is excellent. Great use of panels and space (and I absolutely love the perspective on the horse in panel four). Awesome.

Thanks Tom, that's great to hear since I am trying to improve on layout and composition (it's a bitch). The horse, well that was just plain ol' fun.

Wow. Love the nature-shots along the sides! That's what made me fall in love with the Jan Brett books in the first place...all the details and organic flow! Onto the regular scheduled story...LOVED it! The sheep were so idiotically placid and furniture-like like the flock by my home. "yep. Definitely not the place..." Loved every panel of it! And Watson's death's grin of glee...(hugs!).

Hmmm.. *checks out Jan Brett* It's her again! I've been told before some of my stuff reminds ppl of hers. Must get some books so I can see what she's up to.
Thanks for noticing the placid and randomly strewn sheep - I love to draw sheep just standing about. Even better in they go 'BAA'. There's just some implied comedy in sheep, apply them to anything and it gets funnier.

"Trouble with Trolls" was my first exposure to Brett. Then I was clobbered by the beauty of her style of a story in China, DAISY COMES HOME, and her version of the story of the first dog. Brett can't resist drawing two, sometimes three separate sub-plots on each page, using the borders of the pages as a medium! When I think that she started out as an illustrator for the Cabbage Patch Dolls books (breaks out into psychic hives), I can only say she's gone past those days.
If you start anywhere, do it with TROUBLE WITH TROLLS and you'll see what I'm babbling about.
Sheep are funny. Unless we're talking about the Shetlands breed, which are smart enough to save their owners from bad storms!! Then again, they were originally a Viking breed, and we all know the Vikings didn't mess with anything that lacked coping skills.
I love how an episode of PLANET OF THE APES was all but ruined when the sheep upstaged the actor with their placid, "Never-say-die-baaaas" while he was trying to make a speech. They can do that!

Third panel looks awesommmme! And the perspective on the horse in the fourth panel? Woah! Did you use a reference or what? o_o
Also I love the little vines and birds and rodents bordering the final panel. ^^

Thanks hun! Nope, no reference for the horse, I just like to experiment with the horse physique. See how it get transformed by perspective. I'm a total horse nerd.
