Description
Whoop! The final page!! Thank you thank you thank you to all that has faved and commented! This would not have gotten near completion without your gracious feedback and encouraging words. I'm only glad I manage to finish it before all the readers died of old age..Special kudos to Aragonite who have beta'd the chunky drafts and provided inspiration and encouragement. From her I nicked the idea that Lestrade's ancestry lies in Bretagne, the north-west part of France.
The idea to make a three-page comic about a Lestrade/Watson sleepover came from the song "Heartbeats" from The Knife ("sharing different heartbeats in one night"), then the rest of the pages stemmed from the description of this entry at Deviantart, and the dark fic Last Man Dead by Calcarbonate. CC is also responsible for coming up with Lestrade's first name, "Ghislain" which is just embarrassing and French enough to be perfect. And the final panel is totally nicked from the end of Last Man Dead.
Works I have paid homage to/nicked stuff from/was inspired by:
"Sherlock Holmes" Granada - tv-series based on Conan Doyles stories (obviously)
"Morse" - tv-series (super-amazing)
"And the Ass saw the Angel" by Nick Cave - book
"Ballad" by deadmouse/David Nytra - comic (as in 'I am not drawing too much details, at least not compared to deadmouse')

I have been looking for this story all evening. I finally found it and reread it. I should have made it a favourite years ago, when I first started to read it. It's an amazing achievement - a long, well-drawn comic with an amazing plot. I have made it a favourite now, so I'll find it easier next time. (If you ever do your own comic, I hope you get it published. You are definitely as talented as many of the established Swedish illustrators/authors. You printed this as a fanzine, didn't you? Did anyone ever review it in Bild och Bubbla?)

Aw that's so great to hear, thank you!
Glad you found it again! It was a labour of love over several years so I'm happy it is enjoyable. Yup I did one small print-run. I have not submitted it to Bild och Bubbla, because I feel it's nowhere near good enough, plus it's made in an unfashionable style, so I don't think they would take it, and if they did, wouldn't say anything nice about it.
Thank you v. much again for your comment and feedback!

OMG, Mycroft recitated the first verses of the O Fortuna from Carmina Burana!
And Neville got what he deserved! D:<

He did indeed! I figure Mycroft would be into Carl Orff. And yup, I drew that panel with some satisfaction..

Ha, I was hoping for a fitting end to that villain!Β What a wonderful piece of work this story is.Β Your attention to detail in the scenery is outstanding, the characterisations are perfect, the storytelling is addictive... my hat is off to you!
And I'll echo what someone else said, if you ever print this as a book, I will buy it immediately!

Oh my goodness, this has been an incredible journey. I can't believe it's over. Thank you so much -- I must say, your portrayal of Lestrade and Watson was one of my favorite ones. Such a well-written, well-drawn, and well-researched piece of what is after all fan creation is a rare gem. I hope you will make more comics, whatever the subject, I will read them religiously Thank you again.

Oh noooo! All these questions! How will Holmes react when he finds out about Watson and Lestrade? Will he try to win Watson back? And how will Watson and Lestrade react?
How can you end it here *throws herself to your feet to beg for more*Β
Joking aside this was a wonderful story, I loved how insecure Lestrade was about all this and how supportive Mycroft was of them. Though I really would love to know what happens now that Holmes is back xD

Devilry In reply to Dogmatil [2013-09-02 22:27:32 +0000 UTC]
Sorry, it really is the end! If you want to know what happens when Holmes arrives I recommend janeturennes "Honest and altogether", which is just how I imagine things would play out! Holmes being all jealous and playing mind-games before realising it's not so bad after all.
Thank you for the praise and the comments, I have really appreciated your readership!

Yes, it's all up to you really how you imagine it will play out! Hey, maybe write a fic about it? *wink* The world needs more hiatus/just after hiatus SH fics..

To be honest it will be my first. So far I haven't tried my luck with fanfictions, I used to write poetry before, but haven't published any yet. I just joined in to LifeJournal a few days ago, so I have a place to post my story when it's finished.

I'm so going to mourn no new pages of this comic. It is undoubtedly the best I have ever read online. Ah, and it ends! Beautifuly done as always! I'm glad Lestrade came back in the end. Even if I wouldn't generally pair them, you characterize and draw them so lovely-Β plusΒ I'm just a big sap these daysΒ
I wonder what Holmes will think about this when he returns! I mean, he's hardly convensional, but I wonder what he'dΒ have to sayΒ *hopes for a postscript page or two, lolΒ *

Thank you so much! Sorry, no postscript, but if you want a sequel then I recommend janeturennes "Honest and altogether". You can read that and imagine a comic around it.
I think it would be Holmes style to get all jealous and play some mind games before realising it wasn't so bad after all.

Yaaay! Phew!! Almost 60 pages, for me who have an attention span of a skittish... oh, coffee? Ok.
Anyway, sorry no plans for a follow-up. If you want to see what I imagine Holmes' (and Watsons) reaction would be I recommend the fic "Honest and altogether" by janeturenne.
Thanks again for following it all the way to the end, it's been a lot of fun!
