Thank you and sorry for the long response time, I missed to reply to your comment somehow! The tweed and other patterns are only drawn once, then I use the Close-tool in Photoshop to paint with the pattern in a new layer set to Multiply. Very convenient!
I love Lestrade with messy hair too, and there will be plenty of that soon! I can't wait to draw it!

... they're going to spend the night alone in a tiny cottage? Um, my mind got prurient in a hurry there. So instead of shouting at the screen, "As soon as the door shuts, kiss him silly, Watson!!" I will simply say that your artworks is fantastic as always. I love the textures of their clothing, and Watson emptying his shoe of water. And I adore the extremely happy dog in the second to last panel.
And now I'll admit that I can't wait to find out what they get up to in the cottage. Ahem.
