Description
1 – 2 years – Now enabled with all the essential abilities to interact with others there own age (durability, talking, understanding, etc.) cubs are then left with a babysitter and cubs similar in age while the parent(s) leave to help the pride. No longer restricted to the den, the cub will begin to explore their new world and test their boundaries. They will often take part in playing with other cubs there own age but often don’t know there limits or the limits of others and have to learn/be taught so. Despite the fact that they can talk and express their thoughts, their intelligence is limited as well as understanding. Combined with their endless curiosity means they often have to be watched very closely. Near the mark of their second year, cubs mature to the point that they need little watch or lecture and are often left to play with the other cubs.2 – 6 years – The cubs have gained enough maturity, both physically and mentally that they can be allowed on excursions to beyond den sights: sometimes without supervision from adults or older cubs, but usually with littermates. This time is also about the time that cubs unknowingly begin practicing skills for their future, stalking, pouncing, play fighting, strategizing, using teamwork, etc. This also about the time that royal cubs will start to be taken out for royal lessons, usually dealing with the basics (so it sticks early).
6 – 12 years – at this point, cubs are introduced into the hunting party and start to learn valuable skills they will need for adulthood (tracking, hunting, staking/stealth, fighting, etc.). Young lionesses are often fitted with their mother or a related pridesister to learn first hand how to hunt while lions will be assigned to the alpha huntress and learn how and when to contribute in the hunt (ei using their weight instead of speed to bring down prey). Males will start to go from play fights to sparing matches, though they don’t usually become serious and even helping in border patrols. Lionesses will be given hunting assignments along with the hunting expeditions with there chosen lioness, ranging from small prey at first (mice, rabbits, lizards, etc.) working towards larger prey (gazelle, antelope and such). As they reach adolescents, lions/lionesses may take up babysitting younger cubs. Royal born cubs will also start to take their teachings and lessons more seriously.
12 – 13 years – No longer considered cubs, the young adolescents are ready to take on more serious pride work and even start making decisions about there future.

Nope. I wasn't aiming to make it realistic to real animals. I know full well how animals age and I just took some creative liberties.
The way lions age in 2D animated movies is left ambiguous enough that people like me and others can take such creative liberties. HydraCarina and few other prefer to go more "realistic" with aging and I think variety from me to her really helps keep the fandom alive. I mean, TLK goes itself against how real lions and other animals act. Lions aren't that bright of a orange like Scar or have red manes like Simba and Mufasa. In fact lions a typically look all the same and we don't see the same diversity of looks amongst lion prides like we do with Pridelanders.
Point is some people go more real in some cases others like me take more a imaginative spin. Everybody has their preferences and this is my preference to what fanfics I come up with. And I'm not changing it.

Hmm. I think only once they hit 12 then they count as preteen. For lions any way.

Very useful guide! Quick question, what is the age where the last of the baby spots will completely fade?

So if a lion's spots didn't fade properly and weren't necessarily a part of their markings, could that be considered a defect/or sign of a health problem?

Perhaps or a trade off gene from a distant relative. Could do either.

May I turn The 13 year-old one into a line-art? I will make the line-art Pay to use and The points will go directly to You.
