Description

Another map from the strange urge I had to draw up maps from my TLK universe. Not as satisfied with this one as I am with the last one but still pretty pleased with it. Definitely looks better then the last one.

Unlike the last one, this gives you a nice close up of the kingdoms, not close enough to see the details (perhaps I'll sit down one day and draw out a detailed map of each territory) but certainly enough to get idea of perspective.

FYI, "Obscure Boundaries" means that the lands are either not very solidified in its borders or that it could possible change in size.

Also note that the more neutral colored lands are either unclaimed or unidentified while the brighter colored blobs are kingdom territories. And now some info on each of the said kingdoms, hurray!

Kingdom Name: Pridelands
Pride Name: Pridelanders

Average Pride Population: 36 members (wet season), 15 members (drought)

Features: The largest complete kingdom within the lion world with a strong reputation for having a equally strong and formidable pride and royal family. A prosperous land during times of constant rain but quickly dries out because of the lack of rivers that flow through it. Though it use to be kept well hydrated because of the elaborate underground rivers that use to run under it, but most have sense dried up now so a damn by the main river keeps much of the water within the territory. A variety of landscapes can be found within its boundaries from small patches of forrest and jungle, open savannah, scrub lands to rock hills and steep canyons (to name a few). Thus a diversity of animals and plants make there home there, giving a menagerie of prey for the predators to chose from. The royal family there have been known for producing some of the most legendary of rulers, for better or worse. The land often goes under huge fluctuations of stability via the rulers and the lands carries many dark secrets and stories better left forgotten.

Pride Name: Outlanders

Average Pride Population: 10 members

Features: Once a prosperous land till a the water ways disconnected/shifted when a rockslide took place in the mountains it originated from. Now a mostly desolate land with scattered termite towers, a small, dried forest on the banks of the river and black mountains surrounding it on almost all sides its hardly hospitable for any pride. A few pockets of vegetation are spread over the northern part of the territory help with attract prey but most large prides can't survive in the land and thus its avoided, even by rogues. The lands remain mostly unoccupied till Zira's pride take occupancy but even they struggle in the lands.

Average Pride Population: 26 members

Features: The ancestral home of the Outlanders up until it was confiscated by the Pridelands after Scar's reign. Mostly desert terrain: sandy dunes with dry scrub and grassland and jutting black, rock hills, with just enough to support prey and predator alike. Few lions are hardy enough to survive in the land, thus the pride who live there are built of tougher stuff. Able to endure heat and go for long periods without food or water. During the years the Outlander pride are abscent, rogues make it a favorite spot to escape pride persecution and recover before they continue on with their travels.

Pride Name: Valelanders

Average Pride Population: Unknown

Features: A large kingdom 4 times the size of the Pridelands, the lands are fed by various snaking rivers and creeks so the grassland, small forests and rocky hills rarely go dry. The lands were founded a bit earlier then its Southern neighbor by a lord that came from the far west. At first, the founding ruler worked towards uniting the entire territory and then splitting it between his two sons and heirs for them to rule. Those two sons split the land between there own children, and those children attempted to share between their own children. But by the fourth generation, many of the royal children were unsatisfied with getting less and civil war broke out. The war continues on to the present day, consisting of a few fiefdoms making a stand against rival "Valelanders" and opportunistic rogues. Many rogue prides and males make there home in the land for its a good place for a small pride to make a living without attracting the attention of its occupants.

Kingdom Name: Grass Walls
Troop Name: Shaman Troop

Average Population: 32 members

Features: A very small but well looked after kingdom ruled and maintained by the shaman baboon troop. The lands mostly consist of sparse forest with savannah and a a small river on the border, along with the make shift huts the baboons use as houses and storage areas for there shaman supplies. The troop are usually a solitary bunch, prefering to keep to themselves to focus on there shaman arts, training their youth and those blessed with the same gift and helping the few in need animals that come into their care. Grass Walls use to be at conflict with the Pridelands (nearly going to war with them) but have sense come to consider them allies, having supplied them with a shaman, Rafiki, to look after the well fair of the land and assist the rulers. However they rarely get involved with other lion prides or kingdoms, genuinely only getting involved if its "the will of the Great Spirit". Thus rarely do they allow lions to seek refuge within the borders, only allowing the odd prey animal or predator in, and only for a short time. No animal is allowed to be killed with in lands thus most of the baboons are vegetarian as its too much a hassle to travel outside the lands to seek prey (though they make exception to insects).

Pride Name: Sky Valley Pride

Average Pride Population: 14 members (to start)

Features: A small, newly formed territory founded by the lions and lionesses who left during Scar's reign. The territory has slowly been gaining strength and numbers over the years to the points they've become a solidified kingdom though few kingdoms are even aware of their presence as of yet. Mostly grassland with a single, large river snaking through the center, the lands remain wet and green through most of the year.
