Astronema's forces appear to have successfully conquered Earth. The rangers are outnumbered, and trying to come up with a plan. Zhane arrives and tells the others that KO-35 has surrendered. Andros is determined to get on board the Dark Fortress, and possibly get Astronema to remember who she is. He activates his Battilizer armor and heads off.
The next morning,Astronema threatens to start the destruction of Earth,if the rangers don't reveal themselves.
Its at this point,Bulk steps forward. With determination, he shouts,"I am the Blue Ranger. " Skull and Phenomenus join him,and the rest of the crowd, showing unity. "Fine,destroy them all!" Astronema shouts. The real Rangers reveal themselves, leading Bulk to stare dumbfounded, "Them?" He asks sheepishly to Skull. This whole scene means so much,showing how far Bulk and Skull evolved from one dimensional sitcom bullies,to true heroes,now. This is why these are fan favorite characters. They went through the most radical character arc of anyone.
Andros has managed to board the Dark Fortress, and finds Zordon. He refers to him as "old friend",and says he "never thought he'd see him again". I wonder when they had any interaction. Did he contact Zordon when he was younger, and searching for Karone?
Zordon tells Andros that destroying his energy tube is the last hope for saving the universe. Andros hesitates,thinking there must be another way. Suddenly, Astronema appears. There's a brief struggle,as Andros tries in vain to get her to remember who she is. She aims her staff at him,and fires. Andros shields his face,deflecting the blast. He watches helplessly as she collapses. As he kneels over the lifeless body of his sister,Ecliptor enters. Enraged by the sight of Astronema,"a daughter" to him,he charges at Andros. Zordon calls to Andros one last time to shatter his tube. Andros finally complies,causing a golden surge to erupt from the tube. Ecliptor shields Astronema's body from the wave,disintegrating to dust. The wave travels throughout the universe, we see the Machine Empire turned to dust,as well as their army of monsters. Zedd and Rita,are purified, becoming human,and they begin to dance as Trey the Gold Ranger watches in confusion. Divatox is hit by the wave,turning her human,and curiously dressed similar to Dimitria.
The wave is a fascinating event,what became of the villains we didn't see? Gasket,Archerina,Rito Revolto, Master Vile? In the Soul of the Dragon graphic novel Finster is shown to have been purified by the wave,Scorpina was shown to have been shielded from it in another dimension.
The Rangers on Earth see all the monsters around them disintegrate,and assume they must have won,but at what cost they dont know. The Dark Fortress descends, and they wonder if Astronema won. The door slowly opens,and they see Andros. They all run over to greet him,but pull back when they see his sister's body in his arms,and tears in his eyes. He lowers her to the ground. His tears fall to her face,and the face of Astronema begins to shift,into the face of Karone. She sits up,asking Andros what happened. The rangers celebrate their victory, and go to KO-35 to help the Karovans. Ashley and Andros say goodbye, and prepare to head back to Earth. Before they leave,Andros,Zhane and the purified Karone come aboard, not ready for their adventures to end.

Here we are,at the finale of Power Rangers in Space. The end of the Zordon era, and the beginning of the rest of the original Saban era.
This episode shines in so many ways. The emotions, action and character is masterfully handled,and the music stands out,especially on the Dark Fortress, and during Zordon's Wave. It is a bit weird that there is no epilogue regarding Zordon. He was the the whole reason the Rangers teamed up with Andros,after all. It's a minor issue, and doesn't affect the quality of the episode, its just an interesting thing to note.
That's the end.
Except, its not the end. Not even close. The series would continue, and evolve. Next up is Lost Galaxy, another great season. I'm looking forward to it,its a favorite of mine. Hope you all enjoy it,too!
