Description
Yea, I got the entire bird in frame..... Now I wish I was a poet, this bird deserves some inspiring words.Note: this shot was right before young redtail almost.
In a 1/6 of a sec. he changed position that much.

Incredible! Now, if I could just force the Muses to help me out, but I fear that it will take more than muse to help me write about wildlife as I've never done it before.... I will try, though, but I need to start research in 5, 4, 3, 2...,

Duh, I just reread your question. I sent back the 400 DO lens, Of course I've kept the
40D. Its a wonderful camera.. Way better in all respects to my 20D. I like it a lot better than
my 5D for wild life.. gotta have that 1.5 mag. factor. and file is almost as big.

Sadly I had to send it back.. It was just a loaner for a week or so. I miss
it, but Not the 5000$ worth it would cost to get a new one. I still want to
try the 500 F4. Before I decide on a lifetime purchase.

Thanks, I added another comment to the image, it was taken the image before the young redtail almost.
at 6 1/2 frames per sec. thats not a lot of time, to chg position that much. So I don't feel to badly that
I didn't keep him in frame. I was thrilled that the camera's focus was on and shutter speed fast
enough to stop the action. In reality it was just a blur in the view finder, as it happened so fast.
(too much honesty?)

There can never be to much honesty. Sometimes my best shots are not quite what I've seen in the viewfinder but still manage to surprise me when I actually view it on the computer. It is amazing watching these hawks how in a heartbeat they do flip and flop their positions so much. I'm glad the focus was dead on too great work!
