Description The stamp speaks for itself. I spent a while making sure that it got my message across without me having to explain it in the artists comments . Because that seems kind of pointless to me.

ANYWHO. I guess I kinda got annoyed at a comment I got on this picture wherein I kind of got the feeling that they believed that fanart couldn't be meaningful. Now, they might not have meant that. In fact, they probably felt that they were giving me what they considered a compliment. But that's the message I got. Which irritates me.

And I see this a lot. I even saw in a stamp once that the creator felt that even if you can create beautiful piece of art, if its fanart you just have the skills and lack originality.

I'm also not explaining because I couldn't have said it better myself .

So the pieces that I used (with prior consent). Because my art is just not made of that much awesome.
3:00 by ~kacfrog711 (Amazing. Look at the reflections on the sword)
SSBBrawl- Ike and Pit by ~lychi (Just so much brightness and goodness)
Rinoa by *paperfetish (Dude. Paper sculpture. It must take hours)
From Where She Stood by *keiiii (She always does amazing backlighting like that)
Radiant Dawn by *keiiii (And her art is just made of three thousand types of amazing and awesome in general)

edit: Holy cow. This thing gets more 's in one day then my art.

Say whaaaat? I made a stamp supporting original art too? I must support ALL art .

Can I reference to your stamp in my research project about fanart on DA?

I've said this before, but I'll say it again: I wholeheartedly support promoting fan art as a valid medium of expressing creativity.

Unfortunately, those who choose to be ignorant will always be ignorant, no matter how sound your argument. >_< But I still believe there ARE some people out there who may change their opinion. I had some stupid opinions/ misconceptions about art back in high school, too.

Don't you just love growing up and growing smarter/more open-minded?

I wouldn't say I love it per say. The pain of embarrassment at my past stupidity can be excruciating. XD;

XD yeah. But, at least, you hopefully won't do it anymore.

And that's why there's phrases like young and stupid. You're young, you don't know enough to be anything but. Thought, that doesn't change how embarrassed you get when you think about it.

I have to agree with this especially since I myself used to be a big fan artist. Even though I don't do official fanart now-and-days I still support fan artists.

I support ths idea, I do a lot of fanart, but I do it in my own way, creativity doesn't mean only making OCs.

The stamp looks great. I have to admit, I never heard the term fan art until I joined DA. I do think that fan art is art, but I also see the value of developing original works.

I caught the comment to which you were referring and I agree that they didn't intend it to be anything but complimentary.

I appreciate the compliment of including my piece in your message, thank you.

Bravo! I'm not big on drawing fan art, but I often draw my friend's OCs, and I'm very appreciative of fan art, as well as original work. I've seen many fan works that, quite frankly, are better than many original pictures I've seen. They're still beautiful, it doesn't matter if the character is yours - art is the expression of inspiration!
