Description
"All the tragedy that has befallen Hyrule is my doing...I was so young...I could not comprehend the consequences of trying to control the Sacred Realm...I dragged you into it, too" - Princess ZeldaAn image I've been working on for several months now. I decided to finish it as an early birthday present for myself.
I was inspired a while ago by reading about this old contest for a free copy of TP...or maybe a Wii...? Well, in any case, the contest was for drawing something from Ocarina of Time. Either a real scene or behind the scenes thing.
The contest was over years ago. So, I'm not entering. But the idea just haunted me when I got the image in my head. Taken from the fact that Zelda felt really guilty for what she did. And Sheik is Zelda.
This is the first time I've worked on lighting like this and so much of it. But, I like how it came out.
So, I downloaded some Zelda fonts and used the WindWaker Ancient Hylian font. Everything on there says:
Link... what... ...have I... done...? (The glowing text)
Sleep Hero of Time Sleep (The upper tier of text on the stairs)
Hero of Time Awaken Hero of Time (The lower tier of text on the stairs)
Farore Kokiri Emerald (The text around the Kokiri Emerald)
Din Goron Ruby (The text around the Goron Ruby)
Nayru Zora Sapphire (The text around the Zora Sapphire)
The Ocarina of Time opened the door. The Hero of Time, with the Master Sword, descended here. (The text on the altar)
Sheik, Link, the Gems, and all of the Zelda material belongs to Nintendo
The art is mine.

EDIT
I fixed up some problems with Sheik's legs and uh...background problems.

There isn't an emoticon or run-on sentence that can describe how much I love this.

Keep drawing man, this picture rocks.
Hmm, the problem with the lighting is that the light seems to come from everywhere.
The center is supposed to be the shiniest, but you also give light on the boots, which makes it seem illogical. You may want to consider where are the sources of light and imagine where it should be dark and where it should be white.

Thanks.
Well. The light does come from everywhere around Link. From the blue flame spiraling around the bottom step, the light circles around the steps, the glowing triforce mark on the pedestal holding the Master sword. Sheik's sources are from through the doorway, the light from the glowing triforce above the door, the three gemstones, and less prominent of all the lighting is the light coming in from the windows in the temple. Though, now that I look at it, I probably shouldn't have had the light from the gemstones hitting Sheik's legs like that.

Oops, I should be more specific. Links is fine, Sheik is the one I am talking about.
If you are considering that far, it should be fine... but the room is a bit too lighted don't you think? The light sources are all what you mentioned, but to the left and right the wall has typical lighting that can only happen from ceiling light.
Well, in my opinion the lighting is still acceptable, without considering the wall, but the shading is a bit weak.
For artistic purpose, you might want to turn down the light coming from the doorway, thus making the center light appear to be stronger.
End of comment

I don't think that I quite see what you're talking about with the wall, but I was thinking everything in the background needs to be a tad darker.

Heh. Well, if I ever find the patience to wait for the ten minutes to open and the twenty to save, I'll fix the problems.

Hmm, have you heard a program called Open Canvas? It is a very lightweight program specialized to make digital drawing. it doesn't have decent photo manipulation tools though, but many admit the brush of OC is more suitable for drawing compared to PS.

I've heard of it, but there isn't a lot of room left on my computer for extra programs. Thanks for the suggestion, though. Besides, I really just color on the computer.
