Description

Ported to OBJ from the models created by Alberto Garcia for Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator series of games.  Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS.  No model download.

On 30 April 2020, Fincatieri Marinette Marine was awarded the contract for the new Constellation class guided missile frigate construction program for the United States Navy (USN).  Constallation is intended to be the new workhorse of the fleet, replacing both problem-plagued littorial combat ship classes (Freedom and Independence) on the low end of the warship class scale and with every intent of being more capable in the roles of fast fleet escort and patrol warship.  It was to be based on their already successful FREMM multipurpose frigate design, and construction was slated to begin in the summer of 2021.  This had been developed under the auspices of the FFG(X) program, and at one point no less than five contenders were competing for the right to build the USN's newest warship class as of this date (fall 2021).  Flight Simulator series master CG artist Alberto Garcia created digital models of two of those FFG(X) program contenders based on data released to the public.  They are based on the propoals by Spain's Navitana (which never made it to the final round of evaluation) and America's own Bath Iron Works (which did).  While neither one became reality, they are interesting "what if" concepts realized in digital form, and make for interesting add-ons to anyone's 21st century digital fantasy fleet regards of whose national navy is using them.

Mr. Garcia has asked me not to make these models available for public download outside of his original package for the Flight Simulator series and I am honoring his request.  I will tell you that they can be converted to common 3D model formats for personal use with the right software, and that you can find and download them on some of the better Flight Simulator add-on sites on the web.
