Description

ASIDE - These were classified as frigates in the fourth edition of Norman Polmar's Guide to the Soviet Navy, a copy of which I bought brand new during my own U.S. Navy service at the time, and still one of the best sources on the Cold War era Soviet Navy if you want it from the perspective of the "Reagan Era" U.S. Navy.  This also remains true in the fifth version of Guide from 1991, just as the Cold War was ending, and also in Conway's All the World's Fighting Ships 1947-1995.  That's why I call them frigates even though most contemporary sources these days reclassify them as corvettes.  The change in designation as corvette is a later post-Cold War re-interpretation of the original Soviet term Малый противолодочный корабль, or "small anti-submarine ship" in English.

Ported to OBJ from the game ripped model provided by our friends over at the Pack 3D website.  Preview picture posed in XNALaera XPS.  NO MODEL DOWNLOAD.

About 50 units or so of all five productions blocks of the Grisha class frigate were produced for the Soviet Navy between 1968 and 1991, with production continuing for an additional three years beyond the fall of the Soviet Union exclusively for the Ukranian navy.  These are small anti-submarine ships intended mainly for coastal patrol duties.  Blocks I, III, IV, and V are designed for naval use, while Grisha IIs were built exclusively for KGB maritime use.  Grisha III was the second largest production run at 34 hulls, featuring improved electronics and weaponry over Grisha I.  At last report 20 or so were still in naval service with the Russian Federation, with the two transferred to Lithuanian service having been retired in 2009.  To find out more about the Grisha class, follow the link below:

This is the game stock model with only one change by me.  The archive originally posted at Pack 3D did not include the texture for the large Strut Curve radar, so I had to use a generic black texture instead.  I hope to fix this at some future point, but for now enjoy the model.
