Kim Kap Hwan from Fatal Fury and King of Fighters.Kim is probably one of my all time favorite fighting game characters. When SNK first introduced him in Fatal Fury 2 he had such a fresh style compared to any of the Street Fighter archetypes showing up in the arcades. With his lighting fast kicks and awesome aerial attacks, Kim was an excellent opponent against anyone using a projectile character.
Having said that, Kim has also been one of the least altered characters in the SNK universe. Aside from some odd costume choices in MI 2, Kim hasn't really changed much since his initial debut. My goal was to modernize his look for current day styles, yet also keep his costume very logical for the amount of kicking and movement he has when fighting.
The outfit I designed for him takes into consideration the loose fitting Taekwondo Gi he had donned up until this point, but adds a bit of modern day athletic style to it.

Kim looks like he is all set to go out for a nice long jog and then head on over to the gym. His traditional taekwondo gi I imagine has got to be reeking pretty badly. The pose you placed him about to kick the ever living crap of some unlucky foe.

My only gripe with your design is this: He looks way too young, like how Kyo Kusanagi is right now. From my understanding Kim is supposed to be in his late 20's to early 30's, much older in Mark Of The Wolves. He's older than Terry, Andy and Joe and definitely Kyo and Iori. I was hoping for a costume that is still modern but age appropriate and also portrays Kim's old school sense of taekwondo and justice. Other than that, i like your KOF Redux series. Keep up the amazing work.

Yeah, my ages vary alot in the whole REDUX series. Try to think of the designs at different states of their lives instead of all on one dot on a timeline. If I were to design them all for a game I would redesign the cast to be more age relative to one another.

It's not that i hate your Kim redux. I get your idea and intention behind it, it's just that for me as an artist and designer, i do feel that's it's important to properly portray the characteristics that make that particular character who she/he is, in this case Kim. Generally he's portrayed in the games as of Terry's age or slightly older, maybe a year or two. That helps in establishing your Jhun redux and maybe to his sons, Dong Hwan and Jae Hoon, in terms of age and personality traits as reflected thru the designs.
I was assuming that your REDUX series was set in a single timeline and not varying timelines, hence my gripes about Kim and Rugal. But other than that, cool design and attempt.

I like this jumpsuit a lot more than his usual gi. Gives him a very "urban" flavor as if he were fighting in the streets instead of an official tournament.

At first when I saw the name Kim I thought he was a girl then I started to fight with what I thought was a her and I said damn that's a big flat chested herfer. and then I looked a little harder and I saw that she was a he . And my brother laughed at me. But I love kim and this design is perfect ! I wish they use it.
I want those pants for my self !

this is a really cool design for him especially if he's going out somewhere to places or to a sporting event or a gym. another thing, even tho its very cool and looks good in a video game i just also believe that the costumes look a little much for when a fight is gonna begin. thats if it were gonna be a serious fight. for instance, less clothing for more mobility is ideal for a fight, thats just me imo. not bad at all. if i were to make a movie with characters that needs a signature look then i would come to you most definitely

This is a cool picture! I love how you modernized the Gi and all, but I have one little tip.
The leg he's kicking with seems a little weird with the angle you're portraying with. You don't have to revamp the whole picture and all, but I am just saying that the leg kind of in an awkward position.
(Oh and I apologize if you already heard a comment like this. I just want to be a broken record and annoy you!)

I gotta say I like these clothes better than his orginal clothes on the game. Good work. I would say try sending the pics into the creators of KOF and see if they would use them.

I might someday, I just hope they wouldn't try to sue me lol. I have gotten word that several non-English speaking players who see my work mistake it as a new KOF game coming out and forum chaos ensues. So a lot of the time I am quick to point out to visitors that this work is NON SNK sanctioned
