Description This piece is an old classic, but since I have him up in my other galleries, and he seems to be popular, I'll add him here, too.

Originally done as a contribution cover to the Bird Scramble fan publication, to celebrate the Chinese zodiac year of the rooster (the rooster's on the coffee cup). Pencil drawing.

The old school Gatchaman art...the look on Joe's face...the rooster mug...yes. It's definitely a classic!

That IS nice!! Thanks for putting him up here. Ahh, coffee! Keeps a body going! That and tea.

Joe looks positively laid-back and relaxed here. *Offers him a cookie*

"Look, Ma! No scowl!"

I displayed this piece at San Diego Comic Con and got tons of requests for copies. Figured I'd increase his exposure here, too. Ironically, all my attempts to color him have failed.

Some pieces just want to be B/W, I think. I notice for the Buddha series, they simply used B/W interior art panels for the covers of the books and didn't colorize them.

Of course there is some artist out there who did (does still?) gorgeous color 'realistic' versions of Blackjack that were amazing. And I think I saw one of Susumu Kodai by the same person. Purr!
