Description
Granted Caz is not wearing a green suit with bell-bottoms, but it's never a good thing to rub in the fact that one's attempt at intimidation has failed miserably.Related content

Gatchaman Vs Warmachine?! Awesome. #2 was alway my favorite. I miss that show. Cartoons just aren't the same anymore.

Woops, I'm sorry if I sounded flip. I just realized where you were. :#(
There are some pretty good clips on YouTube of the uncut version:
Joe takes on Ken after Ken gets a little too nosy about his failing health: [link]
Joe takes on an island full of goons on his own: [link]

Hee-hee!! Good thing Joe is young and doesn't have to worry about high blood pressure (yet). He seems mildly 'type A' don't y'think?
The more I look at this, the more I grin like an idiot. At least Caz isn't wearing anything that looks vaguely Gallactor-like. Of course the usual IK gear and clothing is more than good enough in Earth-terms, to look nefarious, although Caz is dressed very classy for his world. But packing a pair of hand cannons would earn him a second look for sure.
And where is Ken (alias 'the voice of reason' who might be around to maybe point out Caz doesn't seem to be quite normal?
*giggle*

Joe actually suffers from an inflated reputation thanks to his American version being maligned by that dippy robot ("Oh, Jason is soooo hot-headed!"), and for the sake of a good gag, I used it shamelessly. The genuine article, when not jonesing for the big red button, spends more of his time leaning casually against things, regarding Ken with a raised eyebrow and saying, "I wouldn't do that if I were you." His thousand-watt glare doesn't help his cause, either. Ken would hardly be the voice of reason. Jun might.
As for "not quite normal," when you fight giant mechanical animals and goons dressed like clowns on a weekly basis, what's normal?

I watched enough Gatchaman (fuzzy and grainy, but still the original) that I did get the impression Joe could have a 'bit of a temper' when spun up. Then again, you're very right, so could Ken. And the two of them together --! Whee! (Perhaps a little testosterone clash going on there?) So where is Jun, who I'm sure has noticed the big rip in Caz's coat and is thinking "bakemono!!" Or Ryu, who probably is more in touch with rural ghost-legends...
I saw only a few episodes of BoTP, then gave up in disgust over the obvious hack-job. I saw parts of the various seasons of Gatchaman at east-coast cons in the 80's. Ahh, fond memories.
Too true, when you're used to fighting giant mecha and crazy goons in clown suits, 'normal' would have quite a sliding scale. *grin*

I think it would be Ryu who'd be the most observant when it comes to ghost legends, you're right. The team is generally better at playing ghosts than meeting one. As for the legendary G-2 temper, a lot of that is bluster directed at the enemy ("I have this vendetta! Grr! Kill!"). He speaks respectfully to authority figures and really doesn't start rebelling until the end, when he's afraid he'll be pulled off the team or die before he can get his revenge. Of the two, Ken throws the bigger tantrums. It's interesting to sit back and watch really good copies and see the background.
You'll enjoy the DVDs. The best way to watch the episodes is with a group of friends.

I like Ryu very much -- he's a practical person and nobody's fool. I'm flashing on that old Warner Bros. cartoon with Sylvester and Elmer Fudd trying to sleep over at a haunted house - Elmer is blissfully ignorant, while poor Sylvester is the only one who actually sees the weird goings-on. Elmer never believes him.
Ryu: "But Aniki! He's not bleeding!"
Joe: "I just missed him, that's all."
Ryu: "He's not casting a shadow!! See?!"
Joe: *staring at Caz wandering off under shady trees* "Um... nobody casts a shadow in the shade."
Ryu: "I'm telling you he's a ghost!"
Joe: "Ah, it's just your imagination."
Ryu: *facepalm*
Heh-heh, I wonder if I can cajole my gaming group into watching it with me while we eat our pizza prior to gaming. Classic anime, guys n'gals!

Ryu: Waitaminnit. *You*? MISS? You don't miss.
Joe: You're right. Feather must've got stuck in his coat.
Jane Lebak wrote an excellent fic called "The Rest of the Way to Hell" [link] where Joe encounters a ghost haunting the wreckage of Crescent Base. He does go to Ryu for advice in this area because he thinks something is wrong with him. I have illustrations for this (and have for a long while) in sketch form, and need to cross that final hurdle and finish them so I can send them to Jane.
Good luck getting your gaming group to watch. "Yes, I know it's old, but there's a reason it's a classic."
