Very nice charcoal drawing! I concur, the last time I used charcoal it got everywhere! Congrats on making it behave in such a nice manner!

The problem with charcoal is probably my same problem with paint--you have to relinquish some degree of control. Even sharpening a point on a piece of charcoal doesn't mean the dratted thing won't snap. I think that's the lesson I'm learning this year: how to loosen up.

I got lucky on this one. I tried doing a Joe version and just made a mess. Repeatedly.

Naah, I think I just got lucky in this pic. Guess I'll save the charcoal for the next time I attend a life drawing class.
