I definitely think classic is best! I love the effect of the ink wash -- are you using anything special for that, or a thinned out mixture of India ink?
I somehow acquired a pencil that permits you to do washes, but after trying it once (and making a mess) I decided it requires a fair amount of practice.

It's thinned-out India ink. Simple is better. Less cleanup, too.

Yay for India ink! I've got a faithful bottle that did NOT dry up, so I'll have to experiment. Also try my hand at brush-inking again, I used to be relatively good at it. Once upon a time. <_<
