Description
This is Lotan, ancient lord of the Seas, and the villain from a Little Mermaid story I made for a contest by 's contest.Lotan was an ancient lord of the sea, a terrifying viper fish who ruled the seas with terror in ancient times. When he planned to flood the world and rule over the land as well, he was stopped by a brave Merman who forged the Trident of the Sea King and imprisoned Lotan. That Merman went on to become the first Sea King, and was the ancestor of Triton and Ariel.
When Triton died, enough time passed for Lotan to free himself, and he threatened the seas once more, conquering Atlantica and renewing his plans to flood the world once more, prompting Melody to go on a quest to stop Lotan once more.
Lotan was the name of an ancient sea serpent and an alias for the Leviathan, thus making a suitable moniker for my ancient evil for this story.

Cool! I remember drawing him a long time ago...at least, I think I did. It looks like his design has changed somewhat, though?

Yes, thank you, I am glad you like him. Yes, his design has changed because I am reusing the basic concept for another story. Before he was a Kaiju sea serpent and a member of a demonic army in a Godzilla story. For this, he's an evil Sea God that was once impassioned and has reawakened in modern times in a little mermaid story. He underwent some redesigns, like dropping the light lure, a change to his eyes, and some change to the fins and his overall length because he's coiled a little. The redesign just fits his new setting. The characters are basically different, they are both just based on viper fish and named after the same ancient god.

Thank you, I am glad you think so then. I tried to make him look quite sinister and frightening, and his plans are quite grand.
