Description UPDATE: i finall fixed the light problem that this had. The new thing is the blue lit part of the upper planet. Funny that it took me over a year to decide to fix it

Full View Highly Recommended, as usual.

So here it is, the final version of Cosmic Daylight.

As many of you can see, this one includes my two styles of Science Fiction graphics: the realistic one, and the not-so-realistic one.

What i dont like about it: considering that im no master when it comes to 3d modeling, i think that the satellite isnt that impressive. but still think that its not too shabby, and its a nice addition to the whole piece.

im also not very happy with the blue planet. i really need to learn to map (texturize) a bit better, but i think it looks better than plain blue ball (No, those arent clouds, thats ice on the surface, btw).

I think particle systems are fun, and i thank *agarash for teaching me the basics. <img src= (Big Grin)" title=" (Big Grin)" border="0" />

I took a few suggestions from the Close Up i submitted about a week ago:

change the shadow in the (red) planet: done

more color to the whole piece: done

more stars: done

so thats it for now, i really enjoyed making this, i got to experiment with a lot of settings, which is the only way to learn and have fun with graphics.

Now i know what to apply for my next work <img src= (Big Grin)" title=" (Big Grin)" border="0" />

Alright i believe that i need to explain a bit about the "satellite"

its not a satellite, its a deep space telescope.
we all know that satellites done have boosters like that, but who said that this picture is supposed to be realistic?
also........the "satellite" is going to go through some rough area ahead.....full of rocks.
also it helps balance the colors a little, and it brings some more attention to it.

Excelente trabajo!

OMFG! Gorgeous! Such detail and color. Okay, so maybe you don't care for the satellite, but I think it's great.

That said, I have to wonder at the physics of such a planetary system... And why isn't the ringed planet catching any of the white-hot glow from the lower star? Leave it to a nerd like me to pick out the scientific details.

Beautiful!

I have nooooooooo idea how you would do something like this. The graphics are amazing.....it has so much depth and color. Definately better than the last version. Reminds me of EVE - the new mmorpg.

A binary star system? Interesting. I think you need a litle more light hitting the dark underside of the red planet as there is a star there shining from beneath it. Otherwise it looks fantastic and the space probe really makes the picture - it'd look weird without it.

Wow thats really specatcular. I really like the contrasting two colors. Hey don't you think some of those things would hit the probe/satilite? You could draw some collisions, or sparks, or something like that.

that ring around the red planet is fantastic. Though the blue planet is also very nice (as are the satellite and the little rock things around it), i think the red planet alone with some extra spacey.... stuff... would be nicer.... just my opinion

Very serene, beautiful, etc
Probably some improvements, slight ones, on the texture mapping would improve it overall - you said it already. The rocks look like they are 'exploding' away from the flare behind the blue planet... dunno if you intended that.

What program(s) did you use, anyway?
