Description
Like many kids I was a tad disappointed to learn that Velociraptor was not the person-sized monster from Jurassic Park, but instead was a turkey sized predator of spry stature. But as I've gotten older, I've come to appreciate and delight in Velociraptor's true nature. The fossil record hints at a pint sized powerhouse that would tackle creatures several times it's own size. Fast and fleet footed, they would have darted through underbrush, exploding from unseen hiding spots in a flurry of feathers, claws, and teeth.
But, if people were around, the story would probably be different. While in Australia I got to see a zookeeper interacting with dingos and basically treated them like domestic dogs. The opportunistic hunters were, for all intents and purposes, just big ol' doggos.
So, if we could cage Velociraptors, would they perhaps eventually become a little more docile? A little more domestic, with the right rearing and training? Perhaps, but I have no doubt they'd always be a bit mischievous at their core.
Overall happy with this piece, shading goes a little flat on the raptors but I've always struggled with feathers dinos, hah.
