...well this is late.
I was at least going to upload ONE picture for zutara week but it didn't exactly happen on time. x_x Sorry!
The prompt was "mythology" so I did a little number with the Painted Lady and a rather disturbing looking Blue Spirit. I always did love their designs.
Although I like to imitate, Stephen Gammel I am not. Am I off the hook now, Trish? Haha.
Pencil on bristol.
EDIT: FYI this isn't Zuko and Katara, folks. As the prompt was "mythology" I thought it suitable to portray the legends they impersonate - the actual Blue Spirit and Painted Lady, whoever they were.

The fading effects and the creepiness you've added to the blue spirit looks awesome. I personally love how you handled the Painted Lady, her hair looks like it flows into the water.

How you're able to blend things with just pencil and bristol is beyond me. This is just, dhsjkdhsakjhdkas!! The way you made the Blue Spirit is awesome and the painted lady is so good--just--can't put into words. I wish they went more into the spiritworld too, but when I think about the stuff they did give us, like lionturtles and whatnot, just, god. Hahaha...I'm rambling now I apologize.

Ya I'm on the same page with the spirit world stuff. They could have really woven that into the plot more and not treated it as a deux ex machina. They really overlooked the possibilities.
Thanks for the comment! I actually make it a point to try and keep blending to a minimum so the texture shows. But with the clouds and fog it was kind of necessary. This was quite a few months ago, but I think I used kleenex and kind of "painted" over the strokes to soften them. Maybe some blending sticks too? I don't remember.

I saw this once before and had to find it again to say I love it. I love Avatar and I love folktale/mythology, so of course this totally does it for me. 8D That crazy-awesome mysterious swamp-thing Blue Spirit especially RAWKS.
