RE2 Remake Reaction
Ever since its official reveal at E3 2018, many people have been asking for my opinions on the Resident Evil 2 Remake... so here it is, in animated form!
It's sad but true... I am personally very disappointed with how the RE2 Remake is turning out to be. I've tried very hard to push my bias aside, and simply be excited for the fact that it's going to exist. But it just doesn't work that way, I'm afraid. With such missed potential and an ultimately broken promise, it's difficult for me to feel anything but betrayed by the whole situation, at least with what's been shown so far.
This animation alone couldn't possibly cover all of my exact reasoning for feeling the way I do, so if you have any questions or are further interested in my thoughts on the RE2 Remake, please take a moment to read this opinion piece I made to accompany the video:

Please also keep in mind that I don't think the RE2 Remake will be a ”bad” game by any means. If you're hyped for the RE2 Remake, there's no reason to take this video personally. My opinions are simply my own, and I don't intend to offend, discredit, or sway the opinions of anyone who may feel otherwise. Videos of this nature are always gonna have a touch of comedic anger, and that little jab at ”TrueREfan98” is satire that's only intended towards the fanatical types who lose their shit at even the most innocuous of criticisms.
Whether disappointed or hyped, your opinion is valid.
(As long as you're not being a complete dick to other people in the process, that is)

They certainly gave all the characters more personalities without changing what they were in the original.

Hmm, for me that's kinda been give and take. Some characters retain their personalities, but some have been changed so much in a way I don't really care for.

I'm actually really looking forward to the game myself.
Hopefully when the game comes out it wins you over.
I saw some recent gameplay footage and it appears that Ada is gonna lose that coat to reveal her classic design underneath at some point in the game.
They do seem to be making a good game in my opinion. The enemies in the gameplay I've seen are really well done and threatening. Also you can't seem to do any melee attacks to the monsters because back in those days the RE monsters were a lot more threatening. You can do a knife attack, but that's about it.
The creature designs are pretty good, the Lickers are all freaky looking and I can't wait to see William Birkin's other transformations. The focus is a lot more on atmoshpere and tension instead of action in the footage I've seen.
I like fixed camera angles, but I would be lying if I didn't admit that I like the over the shoulder camera for how much more of a intimate feel it has for the characters and what is going on in the area. But the fixed camera angles always made the older games feel artistic and different.

Either way, I'm looking forward to this game and it is actually one of the few games on my buy list.
I'm still surprised that they changed Claire's jacket. Claire's goddess has to protect Sherry, I'm sure a phoenix can do a good job too at least.
When I saw they were adding in classic outfits I was jazzed, but then I saw how Claire's wasn't accurate.
Like why even put the classic look in if you're going to change it or why even call it the classic look. I never spoke up about until now mainly because I don't want to have to put up with the predictable insults people would throw out.
I do like how you and the little animated characters came to an understanding at the end of the video instead of just fighting.
Leon's little voice lines made me giggle a bit, not sure why. Maybe it was just those really uncanny lips you gave him.
One thing that not a lot of people bring up (at least not the people that I know) is that the classic RE games were really colorful and I'm glad you kinda point it out. I mean every character has a major color associated with them. Time change I guess.
I'm glad they kept that in some small way with Leon still wearing blue (a really dark blue) and Claire still wearing red while Sherry is still in blue and white.

I hope so too, I doubt it'll be a bad game by any means, but if they wanna win me back after lying about "We Do It", this game is gonna have to be pretty goddamn amazing. But I can completely understand why others are less fussed about this. I am glad that for all intents and purposes, the characters have all kept their color schemes if nothing else.
