Arno tries really hard to take care of everyone. He's basically everyone's mom. And anger/nagging/bossing people around are just a few of the ways Arno shows he cares.Also religious zealotry and rituals are a bit of a fixation with him.

Angry warlock soccer mom...?
Arno lashes out at Mott mostly because he worries about the goblin. He doesn't think Mott's all there, and worries he'll do something foolish and get killed. Plus he's a bit racist as well. (Though not really in a hate filled way.) Mott thinks Arno is a riot.
