Description Again, inspired by The Future is Wild and . Still unnamed...although Sabryx comes to mind for them.

This time, to gain a feel for the anatomy of my feline friend here, I based the body off of a tiger's. To be honest, a cheetah would have been better, as this body seems too bulky. It travels in packs, usually made up of about ten or so adults (the numbers of the cubs in the pack varies). During hunts, roughly half of the pack leave while the rest watch over and care for the cubs. This species' long neck gives it an extended striking distance, allowing it to strike closer to the neck of it's prey without having to use more energy than usual. They have long canine teeth (and unlike the smilodon) these teeth are extremely durable, allowing them to grip their prey, even when it struggles, without risk of breaking the canines.
The spots on their fur are used to break up their form while stalking prey, similar to a tiger's stripes' function. For the cubs, this gives them camoflouge in case they are without an adult to watch over them. The spots are random, and will slowly change patterns as they shed. This is because they do not remain in the same habitat for long, and their coats will change with the environment. For instance, the typical color of their fur is tan on the body with a brown main and black spots, but in the winter or in regions where snow is prevelant, their fur will usually become white with black spots.
They are fierce predators when fully grown, but the cubs are extremely playful and curious. This has lead to attacks on humans, as children will often try to play with the cubs, only to be attacked by the parent or guardian as it comes to find the cub. Their fur is actually quite sought after, as it's considered highly fashionable. However, it is next to impossible to kill one without being ambushed by the rest of its pack. Because of this, hunting of this cats is typically carried out under commission by a member of a royal family. Sometimes, captured cubs are raised in breed in captivity for fur, and occassionally as pets. If raised in captivity, these cats are quite mild mannered, and make excellent guards.
These cats are quite powerful, as well. They have been known to target juvenile dragons as prey and will not hesitate to attack anything they see as a threat to their young. They're fairly large animals, growing up to about 42 inches (head to toe) and roughly 56 inches in length (3'6" tall; 4'8" long).

How's it goin' anyway?

It's a special on the Animal Planet that showed possible future evolutions of animals if the humans had left the planet. They aired it again not too long ago. [link]

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. I had fun making this cat.

i've seen the segment on the 100 million years into the future with the silver spiders, blue windrunners, and the last mammal...i forget it's name.
funny thing is, i think they aired it almost 8 years ago and i was under the impression it was called something like "extreme evolution." i'm glad they brought it back and made it better.

thanks for the link.
