Okay. This scanned absolutely fine. With no trouble. That never happens.AND IT'S YELLOW, MY SCANNER DOESN'T DO YELLOW I AM SO CONFOUNDED
Anyway, the 'true monster prompt'... a lot of people seem to have been a bit uncertain of just what that ascertained.
I had a lot of ideas, but what you see here wasn't near top on the list, as it were. Just what I ended up drawing a few nights ago when I was feeling rather off.
Finished it with the concept that we all have our "monsters", whatever that entails or means personally to us, just like how different everyone's interpretation of this theme is. I incorporated pieces of my appearance, most importantly my flaws, and things I dislike the most about me, into this one.

I'm still on a bit of a message hiatus, but...
I dare you guys to draw a monster version of yourself. Seriously, I'll do a journal feature of ya if you do.

I would draw a monster version of myself...but it would take ages before I could post it here on dA. I'll keep it in mind though. c:
As to the thought that we all have monsters within us, I have to agree. Mine's been showing its ugly heads lately though; yes mine has multiple heads. But anyway, I honestly think whether you had this piece focus on your flaws, or not, it came out beautifully. Therefore, I believe that even with flaws and having monsters within us all--we somehow still manage to show beauty. Okay, I'm climbing off my soap box now, haha.

the color is amazing the yellow and the cream look very great together, the emotion she gives off despite the sunny color of her her skin

Brilliant. I love how your personal monster is yellow, as that's the colour you find most frustrating to work with (yes, I look at every single deviation you put up and read the artist comments. Actually you're one of only 2 artists I do that with, and the other I consider a friend).
But YES, I think the two left arms, one holding her head, and the other strangling herself, represent frustration and suffering (maybe even some self-destruction in there too - self corruption) while the two right arms gently cover herself, representing self-consciousness. Her downward expression makes her appear depressed or self-conscious, too. I also see some scars and blemishes, which are probably what you refer to as your "flaws".
Sorry about the rant, I like to analyse and I like your work =/
I'M GOING TO TAKE YOU UP ON THE MONSTER CHALLENGE. Not just for the feature... Actually, you have inspired me. I have some wonderful ideas about what to do with it ^__^ I have a real urge to draw it traditionally, so hopefully I can get at least ONE of my scanners to work =/ damn technology.

Haha, well... the one thing I kind of like about myself is my eyes, and the glasses don't help that too much. But I sure do need them! My typing becomes so atrocious otherwise, and I can't see very far. cx
