Description A gift for

Korra sat in the middle of a field staring at the setting sun. The wind chilled her bones but she paid little mind to the sensation. A pain stronger than mere cold had gripped her soul and anything else was simply not worth her concern. The lonely rock that rose from the snow was a stark contrast to the otherwise barren field. Her eyes were drawn there and she remembered a time when she joined her dearest friend there as a pup and was delighted with singing lessons. Their howls resonating together in the night and in their hearts. It was also the place where she took her pups to show them the stars and the songs she once was taught.

"Mother?" Corvus appeared seemingly out of nowhere, as he always did. His paws were always silent and not even her trained ears could pick up his steps most of the time.

"What are you doing out here alone? Aren't you cold?"

"I do not mind," she replied

Her son sat beside her and looked to the horizon. She didn't know how much time passed before the silence ate at her.

"Why are you not with your new mate?"

Corvus smiled, "Monifa is resting. She didn't mind me coming. We both knew I was needed elsewhere."

Korra looked at her son. She saw how he smiled at her with shining eyes. At the pain he felt from seeing her suffer. It was too much. She started to cry the tears she had been holding back for days.

Her son shushed her as he leaned close and laid his head over hers and she found herself crying into his mane.

She was surprised when he started humming one of the lullabies she had sung for him as a pup. It made her cry harder for a bit before it soothed her aching heart.

After a few minutes she recovered her composure. She sniffed and smiled at Corvus.

"You remembered," Korra told her son.

Corvus smiled, "I have never forgotten, Mother. The memories created out of love never truly fade. They are our treasures when everything else is gone."

Korra laughed. "Look at you. My boy has gone all grown up on me. How did you get so wise?"

He smirked, "Well, I just follow the advice the stars give me, of course."

"Of course."

"Come, let's find some warmth. I told Monif to save you a spot next to her, right by the fire."

Korra snorted, "This will be quite a night."

Corvus laughed, "Everything will be alright, Mother. Everything" - He looked her straight in the eye when he said the word-

"How do you know?" Korra whispered.

Her son winked, "The stars told me so."
