Bio card: The Empire toils to complete the second Death Star after the humiliating destruction of the first battle station by the ragtag Rebels. One of the droids on the station is R5-J2, who goes about his duties unaware that its service will be very short-lived.
Some droids gets an accurate appearance due to their patterns being easily noticed. Others don’t get much accuracy due to limitations. But r5-j2 is no exception. This is due to the fact that it’s head on it’s action figures are the traditional r5 head, where as the original model had the binoculars eyes head. This issue hasn’t been fix, so every other merchandise and appearance this droid had was with the regular head. It’s unknown why r5-j2 wasn’t given r5-d2’s head, but it’s likely that star tour told hasbro never to use the head casting so it would be exclusive.
Even if he’s inaccurate to his tv appearance, I still like him either way. As this action figure allowed me to be aware that there were more astromech droid action figure and how an r5 head is suppose to look like (remember, I didn’t watch the original trilogy until 2008) an interesting fact is that this droid perish when the second Death Star exploded, but as confined by the game “Star Wars battle front II” this droid was salvaged by the empire and brought back to service. Making him one of the droid to survive the destruction of the second Death Star.
If I would rate this action figure, I’d give it a 8/10. If he had his original binocular eyes, I would of given him a 10/10.

R3-T7
Type - R3 unit
Team - unknown
Color - white with lime yellow and blue
Number in my line of collection - #03
Year made - 2002
Year I got it - 2008
Movies
- Episode II attack of the clones
Droid allies
- R5-C7 (likely)
Bio card: Ten years after the fight to save the Naboo from invasion, the galaxy is on the brink of civil war. Under the leadership of a renegade Jedi, thousands of solar systems threaten to secede from the Galactic Republic.
A courageous Jedi Knight, his impulsive and headstrong apprentice, and a queen-turned-senator are drawn into the heart of the conflict... and the beginning of war.
(What does this have to do with R3-T7!)
Sometimes, a background character gets more attention than those that are being focused. Some are because they have a more unique design and is given a unique backstory. While others are given a toy to show that the character did appear in the movie, but was cut or barely visible. R3-T7 is one of two astromech droids to appear in the prequel, which was a rare opportunity for an R3 droid (the other droid being an unnamed droid that borrows R3-T7’s head and R5-D4’s body. Which fans names him R3-D4 because of it).
R3-T7 is quite the oddball. Unlike many droids that were given their own package and backstory. R3-t7 bio card doesn’t focus on him, but only the movie. Which means that this droid is the only one of the single package not to have its own story. Which is a shame since it had a lot of potential. The time I got him, was with R4-M9. And both droids made me search for astromech droids on anime conventions and comic cons.
If I were to rate this droid, I’d give it a 9/10 due to accuracy and for the extra details on it’s dome. If it’s bio card would of focus on it than the movie. Then I would of given it a 10/10.

R4-M9
Type - R4 unit
Team - Rebels and/or empire.
Color - white with green
Number in my line of collection - #04
Year made - 2001
Year I got it - 2008
Movies
- Episode IV a new hope.
Droid Allies
- R2-D2
- R2-Q2
Bio card: R4-M9 is a standard multiple-use droid used to control and repair vehicles and computers. An Industrial Automaton R4 astromech droid, R4-M9 was stationed on the Star Destroyer Devastator and used by the Empire to search the computer banks of the Rebel Blockade Runner Tantive IV, in order to find data on the stolen plans for the first Death Star.
Some droids are designed to resemble another droids as an Easter egg. But there are evidence to contradict them from being the same being. A lot of fans confused M9-G8 from episode 7 the force awakens and D4-R4B from rogue one as r4-M9. But it’s safe to say that they’re not the same droids. As we know, R4-M9 was captured and likely reprogrammed to work for the empire. Where as M9-G8 was still with the rebels. It’s likely that the rebel r4 droid on the x wing in a new hope is D4-R4B. Seeing that r2-Q2 and R2-F2 appear in the same movie with the same design but are two completely separated droids.
As for the action figure, I can spot a bit of difference from the model and the figure. As it lacks a few more lines and a few white patterns. But since the tv screens were smaller back then and if you look closely at them it was blurry. I give it a pass. If I were to rate this figure, I’d give it an 8/10. I would of given it a 10/10 rating if they said in the bio that he originally worked for the rebels until he was captured and reprogrammed. Because the scene does show that they are rebels, if they weren’t, they would’ve gone the opposite direction and scanned after the prisoners were captured.
Like I said before, getting both of R4-M9 & R3-T7 inspired me to go to anime conventions and comic cons to find more of them. Because these 3 basically were together when I displayed them. I decided to call this trio “the guided trio” since all 3 of them managed to show me that there were more droids and where I might find more of them. Next time, I’ll be talking about R4-G9, R5-D4 and R2-B1. 3 droids that appear on the prequel trilogy each.
Figures are own by me.
