Spectrels are the largest known treebat, closely related to the pandabat. They have stubby lower legs and long upper arms for brachation across scritean woodlands. Like the pandabat their diet is herbivorous, yet instead of leaves these ones feed upon the nyoiafruit which grow consistently (albeit in low quantities) year round, becoming a bit less common in late summer/early autumn. They spend most of their time traveling and eating. Since the land cannot support a big population of spectrels, these bats are a rare sight and there are not many of them around. They have wide home ranges and are mildly territorial, although 'battles' include slowly swiping and grappling at one another with their claws, usually the less dominant spectrel will show submission and leave the area rather than risk plummeting to its death. Like pandabats they possess a pouch inside which their offspring shelter and grow. This allows them to travel more widely as opposed to nest-building skitterlings.
