Don't feel offended, he actually -did- copy someone else's work and probably holds a grudge now because some people noticed:

don't bug yourself about him. His gallery isn't all that original either. He really has to learn about giving useful critique. As I commented to him before, next time if you happen to make a sun remember to link to God Almighty as you might also get copyright issues

A lot of people seemed to have come up with that design, it's really not that far of a stretch to think that more than one person took a piece of a circle out and moved it.
I only say this because I designed the exact same logo about 6 months ago, and this is the first I've seen this. My version is on [This Site] .
Admittedly yours is done better,

Good job. It's the best 'Shift logo' from the 3 version. The effects are great in it.

yep, it's all done in Photoshop CS3, but i could have easily done it in PS 7.0. it's just shapes, color modes, and brushing

Yeah I saw, but it doesnt look like ripped though. Some times people have same thoughts and create something. It happened before.

I agree with vica and John. I like yours a whole lot better, but think you should change the symbol if you are planning to use it for a company. Like the people said, the shape, the shiny stuff and the style is almost similar, but even though you have't seen tit0's before, he still made his first so you're basically still breaking the copyright law.
You said that you sent him a note, and you credited him so keeping this piece his wouldn't be a problem, as long as you use it for personal uses only for instance showing it to the people.
Lovely!

alexdesigns In reply to El3ment4l [2007-07-24 14:49:00 +0000 UTC]
Dude, this is awesomer than the original. I like it a lot more and I'm not saying it's ripped however using it for a compay when another company uses it already is no good for you.
You seem really disappointed that there's another guy who used this shape and style. I can definitely see you're happy with it, and you've got a reason to.

I really like yours better, it looks like a c4d render, but to be in PS only, thats amazing but it looks almost TOO similar, i mean the shiny points, the colors, and everything. It just doesn't look like you didn't know, but if you say so, then i'll believe you

It is possible for two people to have the same idea, and though the two are close, I definitely prefer yours with the darker colors. Great job.
