It's either Ruto for grown Link or Saria for young Link! Princess Zelda gets no love cuz she's dumb. xD

Then they'd have to call the games Legend of Saria, wouldn't they?

Legend of Ruto would be the win, though. The music and scenery for the Zoras is always among the best, and Ruto's already blue (Wisdom), anyway.

I must confess, you are a genius. = D Besides, we need more underwater adventuring for Link get into!

Indeed! To be honest, the most tense I feel in Zelda games are when I have to go underwater. Especially since in most games water = death. XD
Since you seem to have good taste, I have to ask what you what you think of Midna and Twilight Princess. :3

Hehe, the underwater places are the funnest ones to me. I LOVE water themes, so it makes me giddy to go swimming in Majora's Mask, diving to Lake Hyrule's watery floor in Ocarina of Time, and swimming around in Link's Awakening, Oracle of Ages/Seasons.
I was real disappointed in Wind Waker whenever I found out that there was no deep diving to be done there. =<
Midna and Twilight Princess, eh? Well so far, there's nothing about TP that I don't like! Some of the NPCs are scary looking, but that's okay. xD I haven't actually played the game yet, but from the moment that I had first seen Midna, I loved the little pipsqueak. Such a unique looking.. creature, she is.

Agreed...way too much sailing in Wind Waker, too. ='
ZOMG you need to play TP, tho...Midna is even more awesome than Ruto, and I didn't think that was even possible!

Yah, there was a lotta sailing in WW. I didn't mind it much, tho. I dreaded switching items around WHEN sailing, tho. Just to call up winds, use the crane for deep water item searches, et cetera. Sometimes i just let the boat row the way I wanted it to go instead of calling up winds, cuz I was too lazy to access the item menu. xD But no deep diving, that really made me upset. There was such high potential for underwater fun since almost all of the overworld was water.
She looks to be an awesome partner, Midna does. Maybe even funner and better than Navi perhaps. x)

I was in the Navy, so I -hated- sailing. XP
The Water Temple in OOT was my favorite cuz lots of water, and it was a brain teaser.
Midna is like Navi but with the awesomeness of Ruto and the cute usefulness of Medli rolled into one, but still very much her own character.

Yah, water temple.. that thing took me many days to figure out on my first time there. xD But I enjoyed it!
Mmm, Medli. <3 Midna makes you think of Medli, huh? This is good, this is very good!

Yepyep. Midna's like Navi, but useful like Medli and has a much more prominent role instead of only being your guide.

Mmm, lovely. You've done a great job with the lighting, as other people have already said, and I like how Link's hair is billowing out a little (for want of better wording) like it actually would when underwater.
I... can't offer any concritty stuff that hasn't been said before, so I'll just say keep up the good work.

Pff. You call that procrastination? XDDD I've pulled that off many times. I've got a 10-page paper due this Friday (which I need to graduate) and I only have about 5 pages. >>;;;
I wanna enter Nico's contest! But I need to get the stuff checked off my to-dos before.....;____;
AMAZING. I haven't seen Zelda stuff from you in a while, and now that I see it again, it's like the second coming of Jesus. I'm totally happy to see Zelda art in general. @_____@ Thank you, Ken, for making my day even more wonderful! You just made Zelda even more awesome--with one picture. Props to you! I can't find any useful words to describe this, but I'll try....
It's just....wow. The coloring......the background.....the design.....the composition......THAT FORKING COLORING.....the anatomy! I admire every little piece of work that went into this. You'll win that contest, hands-down! If you and I were entering the same contest, I'd be so intimidating, I'd drop out of it! You're that flippin' awesome, man. >< You never stop improving, either! You'd have to be dead in order for me to catch up, and I don't want to get into morbid stuff like that. >>;
Wonderful work, dude. Keep it up or I'll throw hot tea on your lap.

Yah? But working on papers for school is very boring. D= I can totally relate to you on that, but I've never had to write one that was 10 page long in my day, geez...
I would like for you to enter her contest too! Would be nice if it's due date were pushed forward a few weeks, huh?
What?! D= I wish you would have joined it too, I really should have told all my Zelda obsessed friends about it sooner.... The thing is, I knew about it since December, but then I totally forgot about it, almost immediately afterwards thinking that I'd have plenty of time to do stuff for it. Then I ended up waiting to work at this entry a couple of days before deadline xD. But, yah! To see you make some entry(s) for the contest would have been sthuper, cuz it's like you said yourself, seeing Zelda fan artwork in general is a great great thing, but to see it from one of your friends is even more so awesome, and we both know that you have the techniques to pull of miraculous fan artworks. I remember a time, waaaaay back in the GFE days, when you used to post your art in there. There was a picture of princess Zelda standing happily in a room by herself that you had made that I seem to never forget about. It's nowhere near as ~visually~ amazing as your arts are now, but all the same it made me very happy to look at it because it was infused with fan artist magicks that make such Zelda art the joy it is to look at.
Whoa, okay, seems like I'm talking too much, huh? xD Thanks for your thoughts, Lili! Also, I do want some nice, hot tea, but not in my lap plz.

Eh. It's a graduation requirement. I think the newer principal added the rule so we had to work harder. >>;
Yaaaaah. XDD
Oh, God. I can't tolerate having TOO much time before it's due. That makes me procrastinate until the last minute for sure! ><
Pff. I don't think I have the skills like you, man. XD
I think I remember which one you're talking about. D8 Whoa...that's scary....me remembering stuff I posted back then.....seems like.......decades.....>3<
Thanks for your totally awesome reply. XD And I could go for some hot tea, as well....

Oh, I just love this. To me, this is just what Zelda is about... you really captured that sense of "adventure" Zelda has!
I'm loving the composition... how everyone is moving in a common direction, the Zoras in varying distances to convey a sense of something larger going on. Plus, I'm liking the fact that there's less stress on Ruto as being a psycho freak and more on her being an able individual (nice and refreshing!). I think it's cute that there's that little sideways glance at Link, too. Pretty fitting, really.
So kudos to you for presenting the characters here in a more realistic light, I say!
The coloring is beautiful Simplistic, but beautiful. It's really proof that you really don't have to go all out sometimes... sometimes you just have to hint it's there and it fools people perfectly.
Gorgeous work. I notice that you ask for Advanced Critique, but who am I >_>; Other than those little fishies in the (medium?) background being blobs, I can't think of anything!
And I'm more than sure you're aware of those.
Definitely a fave on my part

Ahh, thank you! You know, the most special thing about Zelda fan artwork to me is how artists can so efficiently place their good memories and feelings they had when playing the games right into their artwork and whenever I see some of it, I'm like 'yah, that's how I felt too when I was at such-an-such place or talking to such-and-such person'. Even if the artist isn't refined or very skilled, there's a magic about Zelda series fan artwork that I love to see and want to capture in my attempts at some.
You gave me such a nice comment, thank you, Blue! = D
I agree with your critic on the fish. And I noticed a lot of other things that I wish I had not done to the picture now, too.

I totally agree! I love artwork like this... it's not so simple as, say, "manly hot Link in a pose." It has a story to it (my favorite kind of picture!) and there are more little details you can pick out that make it a real keeper
I don't think you should worry about the image's problems, frankly!... Because (this from someone who hasn't been working hours and hours on it ) it passed right off as a very professionally done image and I still think it looks awesome
I mean, the fish blobs, that's the only thing that jumps out at me -- and when I really examined it again, I think the rocks could have been sharper. But that's so nitpicky Xo And as for people complaining about anatomy, etc... oh geez, it looks quite natural! No need to overthink it
Some commenters are just whiny and make up junk.
By the way, you're a MST3k fan? If so, you are officially super awesome.

Yes, I LOVE MST3K! And not too long ago, I went to your gallery... I saw that you're a member of an MST3K club. xD YOU'RE officially super awesome!
Mmyes, some Zelda fan artworks can come off as a bit static, I must say. x_x Like, the soul of the game is not transferred into the art. But it's okay some of the time cuz sometimes we just wanna have fun drawing the charas, as artists.
I dunno what I can do about the rocks, but I know I could have done SOMETHING to make them better looking. I did rework the fish a little bit, removed Link's eye that's hidden underneath his hair, and elongated his left arm as well since that looked a little too short. I really should have submitted this picture here for comments earlier than I did. But I'm glad I got some nicely helpful critics, really!

I am so glad you got some good critique. Most of the time I find that people only offer information that I've long known
...just a tad jaded over here, ignore me
And oh my gosh, thanks for the watch! I have returned it. Us MST3k fans have to stick together, you know.

Some people are simply blessed with a superior, godlike intelligence and know what's awesome and what's not!...?..! I've been a fan of both ever since the 80s. xD GOOD. TIMES.
Haha! Yah, just give me all the criticism I can stand peoples, and then some more, as long as it's helpful.
Yes, we do have to stick close! Cuz I can't just say "We put our faith in Roll Fizzlebeef!" in public and expect any random stranger to know what the heck I'm talking about, thus defeating the purpose of my random outburst. ;-;

Oh, then you shall be ashamed of me D8 Because... I'm a late MST3k fan I never had cable tv and could only watch it when I went to my grandparent's house thrice a year. I started collecting the tapes since I couldn't watch it on a daily basis. By the time I got cable... Sci-Fi utterly stopped them
So now it is my mission to buy as many episodes as I can
For this reason, I don't have the same vast knowledge as fans like you
Including... of Roll Fizzlebeef!
I am working my way up there.

Oh ... one thing that I noticed on a second look ... you might want to lower the eyeball in the eye covered by the hair. The eye that's clear to the viewer is touching the lower lid, the other is not, so it gives the eyes a bit of an odd look.

Aaaaah, yah! I wish that I had just left the eye invisible, now. But I've already submitted the art to the contest holder. >.< I knew that there was something wrong with Link's field of vision portrayed in his eyes, but I didn't know where it was off.....
His left arm also looks pretty short, now that I look at him again, dang.
