I'm not really a member of the character design squad but I felt like drawing my muse, the one and only Bro. Every day is Bro appreciation day. This is how I would think he would fit the style while staying within my headcanon which is pretty darn hunky *cough cough*

Other than the beta kids with their rounded shapes I would think it would be cool to make the guardians (and by extension the alphas) more angular, with sharper corners.
He's supposed to be aracial but with orange hues he still looks kinda white? I dunno... he is aracial though.
I'm not sure about the fetch modus yet. The wiki says he has hashmap (like Dave) but Dirk has Tech-Hop so maybe some foreshadowing isn't too bad here?

Tbh my headcanon Bro is thirty-three, although I like the idea of him being older than that. He was full grown when he found baby Dave so if we assume he was maybe eighteen back then he would be thirty-two fourteen years later. *shrug*
I also like the idea of overly manly Bro and manly men are not boyish 
I do have a soft spot for a very young Bro finding baby Dave though. Imagine a twelve-year old finding a baby and raising him. My heart can't handle that T_T

This looks so wicked! When I first saw it on Tumblr, I thought for a second that Toasty had finished one of the guardians; you emulated the style so darn well!

Besides, I think the aracial colouring and the wrist-sylladexes are just too perfect. You were the one who came up with the concept, right? Props to that! If I figure out a way to make semi-transparent layers on my animations or get a workflow between Toon Boom and Photoshop done that doesn't mean 1000% more work we could even make them sorta holographic, that would look so cool! *o* (I also have a few animating friends in my skype list who even know how to make animated 3D backgrounds. Like the stuff you see in Attack on Titan. I doubt they'll join in on the project since they're not into Homestuck but maybe I can get them to reveal their secrets lmao)
Until then it's practice and training (and advertising the project amongst fellow animators).

Me too. Of any anime style Homestuck art I've ever seen, the designs we have the truest to the original. And that's what makes the so brilliant and appealing to everyone.
The aracial thing was something we casually decided on as a group, but yes, the wristband sylladexes is indeed my idea. I'm so glad to see it's caught one so well with everyone.
And yes, please steal the secret to animted 3D backgrounds. >:3

Definitely!
It looks anime with a slight hint of cartoon and considering how diffrent and innovative Homestuck is compared to pretty much every other webcomic or piece of literature in general it only makes sense that it has a distinct style. I'd even go so far and would include some pixelated jpegs in the background, like when there's a poster it has a low resolution on purpose or something along those lines, to get the Homestuck feel.
It's a good decision, if I would've been part of the team back then I would've voted for aracial as well!

The whole JPEG photoshopped items is actually how I envision the backgrounds having. I'm pretty sure we're gonna have to do that anyway because who wants to draw all those movie posters from various angles anyway?
A Homestuck anime definitely would not feel right without actual shitty photoshopped images of the actual celebrities! I think when it come time to animate, we'll just use our discretion for what to photoshop in and what to redraw in the anime style.

Well, Toasty did tone the style down to the core so it wasn't too hard to adapt. The key features - the aracial colouring and the simple, not too complex designs are still there
