Description
Updated after 2 years, you can actually read it nowSo this is for when your SAI trial runs out or even if you find another program has crashed and you cant save etc.
I eventually bought SAI though, it is very well worth it
Enjoy!
Breakdown
*You can't open or save after the trial has expired, but you can make new canvases.
*The only things you need are SAI, photoshop and a keyboard with Print Screen
It takes some practice to get the screen shots in the right place but once you get used to it it is very easy.
Program Recommended;SAI & Photoshop.
Pen Tablet or Mouse? Either.
Time it Takes; 10'ish mins depending on size.

Yeah I have one question .. maybe it is in one of your tutorials, but i'll ask you anyway ^^,
Like in this video you have on youtube, what brush settings did you use on the sketch? Love it!
I've "discovered" the wonder of Paint Tool Sai, and have to say that it is SOOO much easier than Photoshop !

Which video? I usually use the "Pen" tool for sketching

Elianan In reply to ImagenDreamer [2012-02-20 21:54:25 +0000 UTC]
Yeah i used the pen tool
I uploaded a video yesterday and it shows the sketching process [link] ... I switch between brush and pencil, there's no real "have to use thing" rule when you draw which is awesome but I do find that the pen tool is best for neat lines

Naw it seems to keep a trace in your system that remembers your trial was over unfortunately.
They recently updated it though so if you buy it it's a lifetime buy, on as many pc's as you like, so it's more worth it now.

awww darn
well how much does it cost?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Elianan In reply to RainaRainStorm [2011-07-15 00:05:12 +0000 UTC]
It costs 5250 JPY ($66.4 USD) from [link]
It's expensive, but I can vouch it's worth it, if you want to do digital drawings, 100% recommend, it's a good program to practice in too, it's simple, unlike photoshop that has well over 20 options for just setting things up to start a picture.
Starting to think SAI should hire me as a rep haha!

damn! thats a lotta money just for a program!
I'll still consider using it though lol
yeah! you should cuz it seems like youre already convincing me to buy it later on lol

THANK YOU! there are very few SAI tuts, and i don't know, i got used to do the sketches there and then work on photoshop. this is very helpful, although in my particular case i don't dare to use my sketches, because well they are really full of lines and corrections n_n and i like to work in vexels too. but would be awesome if you had the patience to make more SAI tuts, i'm very sure that i'm just using like 5% of its capacity

I like this tutorial, its rather helpful. c:
But, what version of Photoshop are you using? elements doesn't give you a lot of the options you have to use in this, sadly.

Did you know...
If you actually uninstall sai from your computer (if it is the english pack version). And install it again, your trial period will start over? I always do that when my trial period ends.

what's burn and dodge? I have SAI. but I only have the trial. I don't understand much of it because I don't know anyone that has SAI.
please? could you teach me? or at least give me some tips?
I would really appreciate it!

Elianan In reply to KAMATAYANayuki [2008-12-26 05:09:35 +0000 UTC]
SAI doesn't have the burn and dodge features It is probably its only downfall lol
But burn makes things darker and more saturated, while dodge makes things brighter and more contrasted ^^

so, uhh... you have SAI and photoshop? I am seriously in need of help.I dunno why I'm just so... so curious.
sorry if I'm bothering you. =] but again I need help.

Elianan In reply to KAMATAYANayuki [2008-12-26 07:57:04 +0000 UTC]
Yeah i have photoshop and sai
Hmmm if you are looking to start out and you cant get your hands on photoshop, try downloading openCanvas [link] , its a trial i think but its very worth it to get you started and a feel for the programs, it's a bit confusing at first but clicking around helps
Sai is pretty much just as good though, although most people love it for the thin lines you can draw on it... Just making blank canvases and testing out everything is the best way to learn
Hehe you're not bothering me ^^ <3
