16"x20" Acrylic on canvas. Approximately 11 hours of painting. I started this on December 31, 2011 and completed it January 2, 2012.

The inspiration for this came from the following:

And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life [was] also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
~ Genesis 2:9So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.
~Genesis 3:24And he showed me a pure [fn] river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, [was] the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each [tree] yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree [were] for the healing of the nations.

In the garden mankind sinned and died...but by God's grace He made a way for us to have life and be with Him in paradise.

This was a very quick painting for me, considering most paintings take me much longer than just a few days. I was very tempted to put more detail into this one, but I decided to keep it simple. Perhaps a more detailed version another day.
