16"x20" Acrylic on canvas. Approximately 11 hours of painting. I started this on December 31, 2011 and completed it January 2, 2012.The inspiration for this came from the following:
And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life [was] also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
~ Genesis 2:9So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.
~Genesis 3:24And he showed me a pure [fn] river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, [was] the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each [tree] yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree [were] for the healing of the nations.
In the garden mankind sinned and died...but by God's grace He made a way for us to have life and be with Him in paradise.

This was a very quick painting for me, considering most paintings take me much longer than just a few days. I was very tempted to put more detail into this one, but I decided to keep it simple. Perhaps a more detailed version another day.

You should paint one of our Sisters in the same style. You know they probably are the oldest living trees on earth they are about 6800 years old one even much older.

NO WAY!!! I've never heard of that movie. It looks so cool! I want to watch it! I just watched the trailer and it blew my mind, I saw an image of the tree and it totally looks like my painting. CRAZY!!! What a coincidence! That is totally blowing my mind right now how my painting is so similar to that movie and I didn't even know. Thanks very much for your comment and telling me.

At first glance, I assumed this was a computer rendering or photo manipulation. Then I saw that magic word; ACRYLIC. WOW!!!! Breathtaking!

What does the yellow and the blue represent? Day and night?

Orange and blue are one of my favorite color schemes, as they are complimentary colors (opposites). Perhaps on your screen the orange is appearing more yellow? In real life it is orange and yellow - to give the appearance of gold.
Going with the blue and orange color scheme, I chose blue to represent the garden of Eden at the beginning of time. I chose orange to represent Heaven, the New Jerusalem, the City of God which has streets of gold so I painted the whole thing gold. It's not totally realistic, or how I actually imagine these places in my mind. I painted it more to be symbolic.
I didn't explain this in my description because I wanted to see what conclusion people came to with their own imaginations.

I think it looks beautiful, actually.
And yes, you're right, it is more of a gold color. But the colors fit perfectly with the scenery. It reminds me of a golden city, and on the left, a calm nature scene. Both filled with beauty in different form. Some people find beauty in the city, and others [like me] find beauty in nature. This painting/drawing shows both of them in a wonderful scene with the beautiful Tree of Life right in the middle. Beauty and life.
