I need to first thank GenieOlives for the inspiration to draw spider characters, and also Shadow-Bases for being so kind to me and offering me advice when I posted embodimentofwrath.deviantart.c…The concept for this is a group of attractive women who lure men into a secluded location before taking on their true forms--deadly spider creatures.
The first is the black widow. I wanted her to be like she jumped off a cameo, but her concept changed as I drew her into a kind of gothic southern belle in appearance. I see her being the oldest, seductive, lonely, and not fully grasping love and romantic relationships. One song I listened to while drawing her was “Slow Love” by Nightwish www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6l4H6… .

You did a great spider body .w. arachnids are hard, especially as taur-humans. ( i forgot the official word for these >< )

Thank you, the spider anatomy was hard, and looked at so many reference pictures, but none of the photographed spider poses worked, so I had to wing it in the end, drawing each leg and hoping it all worked together. I only learned recently this is a species generally called a dridder, which is categorized with naga, centaurs, ect. I had no knowledge of this as I drew it, after talking to GenieOlives I just thought a human torso on a spider body would look cool, like when I did something similar with a scorpion here: embodimentofwrath.deviantart.c… I think it's cool that dridders are acknowledged as a species, and though I admit I feel less original discovering it, it's still fun. I'm excited to do my jumping spider character next.
