So what is "The Caldera"?, is it a lost world of sorts?

EmilyStepp In reply to FlintIronStag333 [2019-06-14 03:03:21 +0000 UTC]

Yep!  An isolated environment with various species becoming trapped within it throughout the millennia and following their own evolutionary path.

Oh hey , a Jurassic World hybrid

Haha more or less.  Seems like their hybrids don't blend features of their base creatures well enough.  It makes sense here since it's a stegosaur that evolved a club rather than a hybrid, but theirs are like one defining trait pasted onto another creature.  I love what  www.deviantart.com/acrosaurota…  does with redesigns of them.

Oh yea , his are amazing
But like Taliesaurus says indeed , some hybrids like the Spinoraptor and Ankylodocus are pretty well mixed

I wouldn't say that, take the spinoraptor for instance.

I like the way the tail is done with an ankylosaur mix and I also am getting some Huayangosaurs(if that’s how you spell it),good job on this

My thinking is that it's a derived relative of Kentrosaurus (considering it lived in Africa) And thank you!

Yeah there's not a whole lot of images of the cryptid out there, but it's neat.

All of the Caldera cryptids are based on folklore

oh so is this a made up cryptid based of an existing one, and if so what is it?

They're always the same name as the regular cryptid, just slightly different design with speculative evolution and whatnot.

. Loch ness monster
. Sasquach
. Sanksqach (2 inches taller than sasquach)
. Sunksquash(2 inches smaller than sasquach)
. Marsquach (like sasquach but on mars)
. Firesquach (imagine sasquach on fire)
. Megalosquach (100ft tall and is extinct)
although i have only heard of the last 5 from a comedy podcast

I once did a research paper in high school about Australian cryptids so I'd like to think I know quite a few of them still.  The more famous among them are the Yowie and Bunyip.  I also know of quite a few lake monster variants (Champ is my favorite, idk why) And you can't forget about the good ol' Chupacabra haha.

Descriptions of bunyips vary widely, usually it's said to be a swamp creature though.  Apparently it's one of the names given to a titan that's not seen on screen in King of the Monsters.  Kinda hope to see it at some point.
