i havent watched pokemo since ash got chimchar. i tried rejoining in xy, but gave up before the themesong. no offense. btw, heard about ash challenging gen 5 elec gym with nothing but palpitoad. FAILΒ

Yes, and he lost Palpitoad, so decided to ask for the Gym Leader to hold up while he goes back to the Pokemon center to get another Pokemon. Then that one lost, so it was just his Pikachu left to deal with the rest, which worked at the end.
Worst thing as well, Ash lost to a complete idiot at the Pokemon League. The dude was named Cameron, and he was a full on retard, who only won against Ash by luck alone. First to start off, he thought trainers needed 7 badges to compete against the Pokemon League, and second he thought they were getting badges in Unova to compete in the Johto Silver Conference League, like literally for an entire different region than what he was in. That's not all, he thought a full match was 5 vs 5, and to top it off he uses a Grass/Steel type against a Fire type, along with a Water/Flying against Electric. And no, he has no thought of a strategy, or a way to make up for the disadvantage, other than to just wing it. Plus his main crutch was a Hydreigon, to even destroy about half of Ash's team, and his Riolu evolving into a Lucario, healing all damage Ash's Pikachu did to it, and won against Ash.
So long story short, yeah, you pretty much made the right choice avoiding Black and White seasons altogether.

1. Misty actually knows what she's doing as a trainer
2. Her voice isn't half as annoying
3. Misty hits Ash when he insults her or does something stupid. Iris calls Ash a little kid over EVERY little thing. And Iris does it in Every episode, Misty didn't hit Ash too often
4. Misty has more depth and she's more mature

Here's the problem with Iris, her subplots with her pokemon not obeying Β just accentuate how she is the real noob. Its as if she has never heard of this Ash fellow who made top 4 in the last tournament, yet she is calling him the kid? Meanwhile, Ash and Misty grew as trainers together. Ash was a genuine noob and frankly deserved alot of the assaults Misty gave him because he was pigheaded back then. Her hitting him became less and less common as the matured and developed as trainers. Meanwhile, Iris continued to belittle Ash, while she herself never really developed. That's even more embarrassing when Ash was already season veteran by the time he met her. Didn't help the writers reset his progress, but then I'd be ranting about how bad Best Wishes was.

I've been a Pokemon fan since I was a little kid, and out of all of Ash's female companions, I have to pick Serena, the newest, as my favorite. Because not only is she nicer to Ash than the others were (with the exception of May, who's worst conflict with him was that stupid episode about gender vs gender(those kinds are always unbelievably stupid)), but she actually is the only one to actually have a backstory with him when they were younger; this one little back-story fleshes out their relationship more than any other character Ash has traveled with as of date.
I am, by no means, a shipper; I've already dealt with enough of that bullshit to last my life...but if I had to pick one duo to hook up at the end of the series, I'd pick Serena out of believability and common sense (and the fact that, even in-show, there are hints that it might be happening).

Nobody, really (nobody human, anyway). Let's look back on the main ships and see what my thoughts were:
Ash x Misty: A classic, without a doubt, and that's not the Nostalgia talking (it was already Advanced Battle by the time I officially joined the Pokemon community, the first part of the anime I ever saw being the movie Destiny Deoxys, though I had read plenty of books before-hand). But as cute as it was, I never thought anything toward it myself: I was a kid back then, and since then I've always been more interested in all the cool creatures (and hilarious antics of Team Rocket) than the romance between humans. Besides, while I can see Misty having a 'Young Crush' on Ash, we all know Ash: the show will end before he'll hit puberty and finally notice all that exposed skin.
Ash x May: Meh. I've never seen the appeal or actual connection with this ship. Ash was already a seasoned, experienced trainer by the time he met May, when she was only beginning her journey; her reasons to join up with Ash was more of a rookie tagging along with a more experienced trainer to get a good head-start and learn the ropes from someone who's already done this before. A smart move for a newbie. Any potential for this pairing, in my mind, died with the episode where they went through the ancient yet unbelievably-stupid Battle of the Sexes (as I said before, I REALLY hate this kind of conflict: you don't really hate all men/woman, you're just steamed at the one individual. Please don't drag the entire human race and split them into two separate sides related to bodily functions just because you're having a petty personal tiff).
Ash x Dawn: My reasons for this one are pretty much the same as with May's: I don't care what the show says about Ash's age: he feels like a teenager by this point, and Dawn's just a ten-year-old (one of the most over-sexualized ten-year-olds I've ever seen; seriously, this is borderline pedophilia, right here. Not even the characters of Equestria Girls are this sexual). This is another chase of a rookie tagging along with, who is by this point, a full-blown veteran, to learn the tricks of the trade. You know what, that would be an AWESOME idea for future companions: Ash actually taking on a new trainer as a 'student', and directly training them to be a pokemon trainer during their travels, using his own skills, knowledge, and experience to pass down the art to a newcomer.
Ash x Iris: I stopped watching the anime around Black and White, and eventually skipped that generation altogether, going straight to X and Y when it came out (it was changing Team Rocket to serious people and getting rid of Wobbuffet that made me leave, though they fixed both of those mistakes in X and Y). I didn't care at all for Iris (ironic, given the purpose of this devation); never liked the know-it-all, especially when they talk down people who are far more experienced than they are about things they don't truly understand.
And to be honest, I don't really officially ship Serena with Ash either; I just see their relationship with the one that actually has the potential to go down that path. If they DO end up hooking up during their time as partners, then I'll be perfectly fine with it. In the end, though, I'm a guy who's far more interested in the world, adventure, fantasy, and bestiary of fictional worlds than one who's too obsessed with the non-existent fan-romances that tear the fandoms apart. Many a good franchise series (games, movies, books, etc) have been ruined by over-active shippers, and I go out of my way to avoid those kinds of people and their garbage.

It's the EXACT SAME thing as Sonic x Sally and Sonic x Amy. On certain occasions, Amy will chase Sonic and her friends around with the intention of hurting them with her fucking HAMMER (yet fans like her). Sally only teases Sonic and get's into a couple of arguments with him and fans go ape shit. Again... priorities.
