I can agree with that. I was once pretty angry upon hearing Iris call Ash a kid loads of times...but now I know that it's a silly reason to be mad about. And Iris calling Ash a kid does have some merit, since the Best Wishes anime Flanderized Ash. So I don't hate Iris anymore, but I'm starting to dislike Misty now.

Not really. I am immensely loyal to Misty, enough to want her to return by anyΒ means necessary short of illegal measures such as murder, and nostalgia has absolutely nothing to do with it. Heck, I actually don't have much problems with Iris, either, and in fact I actually think she's a good successor to Misty in terms of potentially avoiding the Female Anime Stereotype/Hina Stereotypes (of course, she'd still be in the gray area since AFAIK there's no situation like the Princess vs. Princess Fiorello fangirls scenes to compare her with to determine if she truly wasn't of that stereotype), and bear in mind, I immensely disliked BW. If anything, Iris was one of the few saving graces to that series. Not to mention by that logic, I would worship Brock just because he was the first person, yet if anything, I don't even particularly care for him at all. Now, maybe if they toned down his womanizing aspect to his character or give him a goal that actually produces results, even if it's not battling, I would be a bit more tolerant to his character, but I'm not.
And for the record, even if Misty stuck around in AG, DP, or even XY, I still would have disliked May and Dawn, possibly even Serena as well (and the last is only because I never even saw XY at all, while with AG, I at least saw enough to form an opinion on them), because of their character, not simply because they replaced Misty (heck, Dawn in particular is an especially notable aspect since she never even replaced Misty in any way).
