I just can't stand fans of Misty. Most of immature people who are fans Misty are:
1.People think Pokemon is far off worse when Misty left
2. support only pokeshipping and only make fanart dedicating to it and oppose all others.
3. Hate everything about Serena for false and/or unjustified reasons.
4. Saying she should come back even though the Pokemon company said she would never come back as a female protagonist
5. Saying she should be in a spin-off or replace Ash as the new protagonist.
6. Saying she has the best personality
7. Saying she has the most development.
Every Misty fan I see just wants me to hate Misty dispite the fact that Misty was a great character
I'm just sick of it.
Misty belongs to Shopro, nintendo, etc

I dislike Misty as a character, but the fans of characters I dislike often just make me dislike them more.

Now, let's not forget that she left Ash and Brock after she got her bike back. After she got the ONE thing she followed Ash for in the first place! You what that almost sounds like?

I would say fan-brats, as opposed to sane fans.
The rest is more or less true though, I agree.

While some of these points are true, and I can relate to them; I gotta say off the start, I'm a Misty fan.
So, I want to point out that while some Misty fans are over-zealous in their beliefs, not all of us are. A deviation like this is just putting up a sign for anger; thus resulting in more of the "over zealous" fans raging. Regardless, I feel like those of us that are not part of this "most" assumption that people seem to make, don't speak out enough...which is why we get tossed in as "horrible immature fans that people can't stand just because they automatically associate a Misty fan with bias, ignorant information".
Alas, my point is that all of the fans can arguably be considered to act like this in regards to their favorite character. Pokemon isn't worse off when Misty left, but when someone's favorite character leaves, doesn't that accidentally create a bias that it "seems" worse? While I know the writing didn't get worse, my favorite character left; therefore, I didn't like the series as much. That doesn't mean the series got worse; that just means for me, personally, I liked it slightly less (That doesn't mean i hate the other characters, though, mind you.). The first season will always be my personal favorite, not only because of Misty, but because of the humor and trioism that didn't seem to catch me as much in the later seasons. Second of all, most shippers, least those that I have seen thus far, oppose all other ships that don't associate with their own beliefs. Again, this is an accidental bias associated with the idea that their favorite character is probably apart of their favorite ship, which makes them believe that that ship is perfect in every way. Personally, I don't think any pairings with Ash would ever work unless the characters were older, and since that will probably never happen, in my opinion, all shippings are possible.
See, I disagree with #3 completely. Not only Misty fans dislike Serena. While I can't say that it's untrue that Serena is majorly disliked in the Misty fandom, I can honestly say she is disliked in the May, Dawn, and Iris fan groups as well. My personal reasoning that it took me awhile to get on board with her character was because her primary character trait was that she had a crush on Ash. While I could care less that the animators/writers did this, I was just a little disappointed. I would like to see so much more from Serena (like they're doing now, actually. I find her character much more likable in the newer episodes), much like how they built on May and Dawn's characters--while a shipping with Ash was totally possible, it wasn't thrown in the viewers face. Plus it's weird for a lot of other shippers/character fans to see this, and support it. It's just how the human brain works. For instance, a Christian trying to understand Atheism. While the idea should be that "Sure, i respect your wishes" Neither of the party is really going to understand one another, and thus, a general dislike could form.
Furthermore, "best personality" is again an opinion; so is "Most development". While # 4 and #5 are reasonable (I guess) Don't other character fans do that as well? At least the ones that I know do.
I honestly think you should remove the "Misty" tag on here, and just put "Former female companion fans"; because really, you're presuming that the same bias you present to Misty fans eludes yourself, or any other character fans.
So, what I would like to point out, is that all fans, in their own right and ways, act this way about their favorite character; I have seen just as many May fans, Serena fans, and Dawn Fans essentially doing all of these acts and then pointing the "I dislike x fans because y reasons". Just seems rather silly and mundane. that's just my opinion; but alas, I'm a Misty fan, so I must be crazy an immature.

I can understand your point, but he mean most, not all. He means this "very enthusiastic" fans, who rage about other peoples and characters. You are right, that there are also May-, Dawn-, Iris- and Serena-fans, which are really idiots. The problem is that you realise the Misty-fans sometimes more than the others and some of them are really...well.
I always do not understand, why people make this wars. Just let them like what they want! Thats all! So you dont get problems and nobody hates you. When you like this shipping or this character: OK! Love him and enjoy him, but this raging fans should stop attacking other people because they dont like their character or else...

N-I-N-T In reply to Plaguetank [2015-12-27 06:40:10 +0000 UTC]
No, I honestly haven't seen one character fandom that is worse than the other; that was the point I was trying to make, but I must have lost it some where. I'm not trying to turn it into a war--but personally I think that it's pictures like this that throw said "over enthusiastic" fans into a rage. (which is what I was saying before I made the points that all the character fandoms are the same). I don't think Misty fans are worse than other fans--None of them them are worse than each other. Some people are just inclined to believe by their own perceptions that said fan is viewed as much worse than others. For example: I have seen (most recently, probably because she's the newest lead and has fresh fans) Serena fans trash all of the other female leads as well as Misty fans doing the same. While the arguments are 'different' the malicious intent is always the same. Pointing the finger at one group doesn't fix the problem. "the fans are trying to make me hate her" is the same as saying (in an exaggerate way, of course): "Your opinion is trying to kill me." It's also a way of inadvertently starting a war with other ships.
I argue that even "most" Misty fans aren't horrible, at least not any worse than other fans. He, by default, should hate all the female leads if he uses the logic and evidence he provided above. All of the character-fans do the list above, (with degrees of variation), and I personally am sick and tired of being labeled "crazy" because of improper presentation of the misty-fan genre. I never said I dislike his opinion, or that I do not respect it; which means that I do not want to start a silly war; simply that I was stating my own flow of knowledge and evidence in support of said statement. He thinks "most" Misty fans (essentially) are making the character worse; I disagree and rebut said statement as false, and justify with evidence that all the "over zealous" fans from other characters are just as bad as one another, or stated in other words, just as bad as Misty fans.
Furthermore, memes of this caliber strike me as tacky, because it's like throwing out a banner screaming "This is how I feel about you!" and sometimes, that correlates a negative aspect to all the rest of the fans who aren't in the "over zealous" category; seeing a negative connotation about a fan can lead to an automatic response system in the brain that tells the brain it's okay to treat someone else the same way as what they read. (A real life example, african-americans are no different than any other race, but in the 1950s, they were stereotyped as 'horrible people', so instead of fighting it, people jumped on the bandwagon provided by media and popularity). The brain has a natural ability to inhibit and response with facts that it had seen and remembered; and so.... Simply stating that I "understand his statement" and that I "relate to some of them" does not mean I have to agree with said statement, simply that I acknowledged it and understood it before rebutting it with how I feel. In my perspective, this wasn't a piece of art to be criticized, but a statement in which to form a discussion. After reading, I discussed and decided to provide my opinion in favor that perhaps it could enlighten others; or more over, get the information off of my chest so that I am relieved of the situation.
Thank you for replying, and for reading this in full. I'm not attempting to cause an argument; I am simply attempting to cool the coals of the fire in my own way and explaining my logic. Have a nice day.

Dont worry, I am on your side. Maybe I explained me wrong.
YOU make no war, thats right. I mean other people I met before with their pictures, statements, etc. There will be everywhere such a guy who will rage like crazy, when the other doesnt support his character. Thats "normal" and something I get bored sometimes. Some of them you cant talk on a right way. I support every shipper or person who like a character who can say me why he likes it/him and discuss with me at the same level. Discussing is wonderful and there is sometimes nothing better as to talk with other about it or discuss why you like this shipping/character more than the others.
I can also understand you: there are people who have their feelings when they hear that you like Misty. Then they think you are like this genwunners. Thats bad and makes them not better than such people they hate. I also met people who "like" characters like May or Dawn and they were the greatest...idiots (let me say it this way because there is no other word I can use right now to explain them). You can find them everywhere in different species and they hurt that people who really want to discuss with others.
Also let me say to you that you have your statement and your opinions and that nobody has the right to deny them. I was really impressed as I read your comments and you are right. You make your opinions, give your examples and have your few of the things. Dont let you harm by somebody else! I respect your statement and I really hope to see you more times for a talk.
I wish you a nice day and a happy new year.

As a big fan of Misty I can somewhat agree. Though this comes from nostalgia more than anything. See Misty's abandonment in the Johto series really did set the boundaries of the writers not wanting to focus on he potential. Sure she had the brief Whirl Cup arc, but I do wish she got more things like that too. Her appearances in Chronicles seemed more of the writers taking notice and giving her nice closure. If I can give Misty one thing over every female it's that she had the best goodbye scene out of all the female traveling companions. I also see her as more of a believable pairing with Ash, however that's just me.
Misty was never bad, it's just the writers never wrote her in a forefront direction. And for what its worth being the first character and having May and other girls vastly improve on the forefront was where they beat Misty there. I can accept fans who've seen all the episodes and have legit reasons for not getting into other females as much as Misty, at least it's a CHANCE! But I agree the logic of Genwunners are so annoying!
Btw May was the best female companion in my eyes. She seemed more relatable, especially since her character downright reflected as a rising star sort of character where she went from being a bubbly novice, to a competent and very skilled trainer, she seemed to reflect the outlook of real beginners. I also somewhat liked Dawn more than Misty too, though I have a rough time choosing there.

Did it really take you over 4 moths to say that in front of me?
Out of the 3 times I asked you, you finally said that?
Is it really that hard?

Ever since The Johto Journeys, Misty became a prop that did nothing but root for Ash.
So, at that point, it was almost like her character was gone since Orange Islands, really.

Pokemon Abridged? There was an episode where in the end Misty changes her tone from her average voice to deep and demonic when she said "Child Support" only for Ash to wake up. Here, let me find the episode.
