Description Here's my first colored pencil tutorial.
Because a lot of people are asking me to do a tutorial of this media.

Here's some of my tips for colored pencil.
1. Always keep your pencil sharp.
2. Find some paper to place your hand on when coloring, This can prevent your hand from smudging colors on your artwork.

Link to the original work.

*****
Here's something I forgot to include in my tutorial. : x

1. I used Faber Castel. Colleen. Staedtler student colored pencil.

2. I used Light Brown [wax based] for drawing original lineart.

3 Copy paper and Printer paper are the same.

4. If you don't have white gel pen, You can use white postercolor or gouache instead.

What Faber Castell Polychromos colors would you recommend for me to buy to make these kinds of art?

emperpep In reply to merpychan [2013-05-20 01:01:42 +0000 UTC]

It's alright if you have enough money to buy Polychromos, 24-36-48 colors set would be fine.
But student grade is good enough in my opinion.

You know what I like about this tuto? That you said it correctly; you can make it without using expensive artist quality material. So much people go and buy expensive material just because they think that without it will be horrible. So, thank you so much for say that and this nice tutorial owo it helps me a lot

LynxBriar In reply to XocoWilde [2013-07-22 17:13:49 +0000 UTC]

I agree, I think people don't need to buy expensive material. I think first they can use cheaper materials, practice a lot, and once they are very skilled they can go out and spend there money on expensive materials.

emperpep In reply to RockxScarlet [2013-04-17 17:26:02 +0000 UTC]

I use both hard/low hand pressures, depends on the objects.

XD I love the details and ideas of your art~
I was wondering, do you trace your rough sketch onto a new paper? or do you just use it as reference and re-draw it onto the final paper?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

emperpep In reply to fiz-fiz [2013-04-17 17:17:05 +0000 UTC]

used it as reference and re-draw it.

emperpep In reply to DreamsSparksHope [2013-03-08 15:21:37 +0000 UTC]

You can try using watercolor pencil, But tube/pan watercolors are smoother/prettier in my opinion.
